This really is a fantastic video and it truly teaches you learn electronics repair. The logical, diagnostic methodology as it unfolds is very impressive. Richard absolutely knows his stuff, there is no doubt 10/10

I liked how you used the schematics, your understanding of these mixers and your deep knowledge of analogue electronics to zero in on the failed component, rather than pull out every component. In-circuit testing like this is very useful, if you know what you're doing! Well done indeed Richard.

Nice job Richard sticking with it, your patience is overwhelming. I'm surprised that's all that you found faulty, given the amount of corrosion on many of the components I saw throughout the video. Again, great job! Paul, USA!!!

Agree with a lot of the cooments posted, sort of surprised at the fault, and i suppose if you have a schematic to help you trace it through even better, it still time consuming though and satisifing in equal amounts, these jobs are not for the faint hearted but a great learning curve for the rest of us manic`s!! good job, can`t wait for the next challenge and thanks for including us and reconising it.

You are successfully helping me to improve on my little knowledge on electronics and repairs. I've always being an electrical guy almost all my life, I'm not saying am the best in that but recently it becoming boring to me(i don't even know why). Now I'm finding joy in Electronics in it pleasing my body and soul❤ Thanks once again sir for rebranding me.

An amazing job Rick. All three videos. Very informative this part on paper about the difference of negative voltages and diode's. I've been using those Dynacord powered consoles for a lifetime. Proved to be very reliable if operated in a relatively safe environment, not near a sand beach. Thanks ...

Beaches seem to be the problem... I just had another one of the same model in for repair from a beach front bar. Works but overheating

And yes I hope the bit on paper about negative voltages helped clear the fog for some viewers, this is something that I struggled with when I first started learning electronics and I'm probably not the only one

@LearnElectronicsRepair you tell me Rick.... 😜. Even if they cover it during close time. The real damage comes during working hours while fans spin and a lot of any kind of drinks is poured in.

Great journey as always. 👍 I was wondering if there is a particular design weakness in that part of the circuit, since it had been repaired before. Or maybe it is situated in a not well ventilated corner once the box is closed? Sand or dust may exacerbate that problem, which could explain the higher than usual fault rate in your area. On the other hand, with all the protection circuitry in place, those mixers seem to have a well thought through design.

I expect the environment causes some of the problems here. You can't get any further than about 12 miles from the ocean anywhere on the island and most of the bars and restaurants are directly on the coast where the temperature never drops below 16C even on the coldest winter night and we have a lot of salt water in the air. Daytime temperatures here range from 20C on the coldest winter days to about 32C on the hottest summer days..., apart from when we have a heatwave (calima) which happens ten or more times a year during any season and can add at least 10C to daytime or night time temperatures winter or summer. 32C nights and 50C+ days are not particularly common here but not unheard of either. Last weeked I was filming for my other channel on the 9th November and it was 32C in the afternoon. Oh and we often get rather a lot of dust, and locusts, landing here during a calima too.

I love the mix of circuit diagram, legendary Richard hand drawn diagram and then close up of the actual circuit as without them its very hard to get a bearing on what is what and yes for a brief moment clarity over negative voltages was achieved 😊 But I feel a few more rewatches and trying to explain it to a random person may also be necessary 😅 Why are there so many resistors in parallel at @17.46 and then another batch in series at the end of the protect circuit ? Is it for current handling ? Thanks.

Great video! So did de defective transistor put the collector voltage onto base and emitter? I can't explain the high voltage otherwise.
@LearnElectronicsRepair

From what I could see on the multimeter, the collector voltage was appearing on the base... more or less
