Actually this is one of the videos that changed my life. Maybe 5 years ago I discovered that dynamic symmetry exist, thanks to you. I started to learn more about it and trying to take shots in those rules. Now I can see much more. My shots become more unique than most photographers in my region. I'm not good at colour grading but my shots are fire. 2 years of adaptation and practice, and I'm working as full time photographer and videomaker. I'm hired by my local government (it's post-soviet country so we have community centres payed by taxes where all art and music from the region is gathering) to make reportage photography on biggest events in the region and make documentary movies. Sometimes I'm making music videos too. Thanks bro! I owe you good bottle of whiskey! Crazy to think about it but even if it was me, who put a lot of work to practice and kept learning, it not changing the fact that you have contributed to my success and in fact changed my life thousand kilometers away from you by some video on youtube. Crazy. Thank you, sending love and respect from Poland!

I came here looking for an idea on how to start without the grid templates, haven't made one yet, considered trying to memorize the lines as best I could and then go out and apply, but now I see that I don't have to try memorize them all, later I will though, I want to etch the grid into my mind. Thank you, gained yourself a subscriber.

Bryan Barcelo thanks for watching! Yes, starting with the baroque diagonal is great to familiarize yourself with alignment and paralleling. Then add the reciprocal when you’re ready, or try the sinister diagonal. The grids on your LCD give you less to think about when there is a lot going on in the scene, but it’s also good to memorize it as you are. Analyzing some photos or screenshots of movies helps build your muscle memory too. Take care!

Thank you for explaining this idea. Im going to start applying it to my drawing more. I've been modifying your game a little just to see what happens. I think using dice is a brilliant because it removes some of the annoying decision making when I can't decide what to draw. I also find myself going over the time limit just about every time. So for now I've removed the time and I just work on a study until Ive brought it to a point where I've learned something. Keep up the good work! I look forward to more of your videos.

Cherrypiexz have you checked out my other video? At 3:00 I show how to draw the grid. kzbin.info/www/bejne/hpK4pHVrbLp5Z7s The manor diagonals run from corner to corner. Other important diagonals called “reciprocal diagonals” run from each corner and cross the major diagonal at 90 degrees. The video will show how I create it and I also talk about drawing a bit.

Tavis it's not the grid , it is design. Our minds constantly seek order. We can find it in ink blots to make them something. Look at music there is a system of tones which can be combined in multiple combinations and form chords which create mood structure and energy. One thing we can recognise is the bum note it stands out. If you play an instrument you should be quite aware of the many variations we can apply order or design to music. How about visually, the easiest design element to use is phi as it pretty much designs life. Take your bird as a subject and photograph her with as plain a background as possible. You should find you have pretty good photos as she is designed around phi and you have eliminated non phi elements the only design you need is to frame her. There are lots of ways to create an order in a scene. The music example does make me wonder if it's possible to position elements to create a mood such as the sadness in a minor chord or the sweetness of a minor 7th. .

As a matter of curiosity, is the left-to-right relationship universal or is it a consequence of our occidental visual traditions? For example, in Japanese, the books are made to be read right-to-left, would that invert the diagonal relationship - which would make the reason for it being pleasing familiarity, not inherent value?
@IPOXstudios6 жыл бұрын
Isori you’re absolutely right! I’ve done an article on this showing some Japanese book covers that were flipped horizontally in the US. Thanks for watching and commenting 🙏🏼

@IPOXstudios2 жыл бұрын
Yes, in my opinion it would work the same way. Haven’t tested it yet though😄
@atmyhouse478 Жыл бұрын
Sigh. Does all that boil down to which grid to use? If so, can you point me to the 'we did the math' dept? The one I just tell them my canvas size. Another question: Working with an oval frame, could one achieve this symmetry by plopping the oval inside, center-to-center of the 'corners'? Cheers.
@IPOXstudios Жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching! The math is super simple, so next time you have a canvas just comment on any of my videos and I’ll help. Give me the canvas size and I’ll tell you the best grid to use. By the third time you ask, you’ll start to see how easy it is 😄 For the oval composition I would draw an oval inside the grid and make it touch the sides, then compose it that way. Take care!

Thanks for checking it out! You will be directed to the download page once the purchase is complete. You'll also get an email with the download links in it. Once you get the grids, you can print them at home onto transparency film, or get them printed at an office supply store. I took mine to FedEx Office, but you might not have them where you live. Any print shop should have transparency film though. The grids are sized to specific camera LCD's according to their dimensions. You can always double check the list on the dynamic symmetry page here for the sizes...most dslr sizes are on there: goo.gl/rBCEPX You can also watch a few videos on using the grids here if you like: goo.gl/MwWrFN Please let me know if you have any other questions, or feel free to email me from my site.
