Here's a collection weird things that happen when you play as certain non-playable characters on specific levels. You can play as NPCs on DW3 with the use of Cheat Engine and an emulator. Thanks to CharAznable2 for the cheat tables!

There are so many unique things in dw 3 that make it feel special, such as when you get an intro to specific officers and the like. They've expanded the game immensely, but have left out what made the interactions between characters special, as it stands, the only real difference between officers and normal soldiers now, is that officers have longer health bars.

Yeah they should go the capcom route and remaster the older games at this point. Keep same actors if possible same systems just graphics overhaul. Too late in ps4 cycle to do it now though do it for ps5 maybe if they wanted extra content definitely use significant npc's and make them main characters like in video.

Ive played the new dynasty, its a bunch of flashy new weapons, an strays from the real thing. It only gets difficult if you increase the difficulty, an that doesnt change the gameplay, it just makes the soldier hit harder. Even the musou are a joke (on the enemys side), you can litterly walk out of the danger zone. Nothing beats clashing 2 weapons together an spamming a button to see who comes out on top.

I think when they where making this one the question of shall we make everyone playable they where like "ehh, we can, and we kinda did, but". Until DW4 I think and DWGundam2 where every unit/suit seen on the battlefield was playable(even grunt suits) and everyone liked it. Not to sure if DWG1 was the same way tho.

I've seen a few cool hacks for this game, the best being two-player vs. battles. For some reason though, no one who knows how to do these things will tell anyone how to do it.

I know I'm a year late, but I'm here to give you the knowledge on how to play as the NPC's, and do 2 player vs battles. There's a catch though, you NEED Europe ISO's for both DW3 and Xtreme legends. In order to play as NPC's, you need a cheat device, best to use cheat engine. You have to set the value of the character you want to play as, but be warned that in order to use values 256 and above you NEED to go into a battle first, then you can play as the lower class characters. Once you're done with that, be sure to set the value to a playable character, as if the value is still set to a generic officer once you start a battle, it'll freeze. You also need to set the value for the weapons as well, as despite it being a different character, they'll still equip the playable officer's weapons you chose. As for the opposite side one, you just gotta change the value from 0 to 1, click the box which should be marked with a red X, and voilà, now you're on the enemy side! I completely agree! I don't remember any irish accent in the game, and the catapault chief definitely had one! From the "Behold the spear of little dragon" from assault captain, I believe that would be Zhao Yun however.

Believe it or not, the voice-sets for Generic Officers in fact come complete with "I defeated an officer" quotes. It's true in Dynasty Warriors 4 and 5 as well, though 4 introduced the Empires side-entry to let you *legitimately* play as a Generic Officer, which 5 had as well. Sadly, no such option exists for 3.

In the history books, China was liberated by Carriage-san who ran over thousands of enemy officers and defeated the mighty Lu Bu in battle. After beating him Carriage-san stripped Diao-chan naked and they had rough sex over Lu Bu's bloody, broken body. Some say it was rape but I believe she was seduced by Carriage-san's big wooden wheels smeared with blood of his enemies. Carriage-san had many children with her, tons of little shopping carts, and eventually Carriage-san retired from the battlefield so he could slay his lovely wife in bed, over and over and over again. He truly was a great man and the hero of China.

Yep. I remember when i play dw4 and 5 Ma chao = spear move set for npc officer Lu meng = spike move set for npc Liu bei = sword move set for npc (but i forgot the sword one) I think just those 3 character being NPC general move set. At least all that i remember it.

Actually, the Generic Spear is based on Jiang Wei's attacks, and the two sword movesets are based on Huang Zhong and Yuan Shao - this holds right up into DW5. Though obviously, the Generic officers don't get their C1 and C3 in DW4, they keep the DW3-style attacks there. In 5, the Lord/Strategist sword moveset picks up Sun Jian's C1, though. The rest of that moveset is still Yuan Shao's though.

@@AstalDLyon why they not implement bodyguard system on recent installment? Because we don't need them. We can just survive on our own. But prior to dw 6, we do need our bodyguards and allies to proceed. After 6, it is really turn to 1vs1000. The old is golden.

They did it in 4 and 5, as well - though 4 ended up introducing Empires, which lets you *legit* play as the Generics, but I'm not sure that was planned as the time. I think they just wanted to have a complete set of voice-lines for all the generic situations for every voice-set, even if some of those generic situations can never come up under normal circumstances.
