DW5 has my favorite version of Fan Castle. *Gloomy Shadow* perfectly captured the depressing feeling of the battle, where so many great warriors and heroes like Pang De and Guan Ping perished.

You actually make a pretty good point. Guan Yu, Pang De, Guan Ping perish during the battle, while many more like Cao Cao, Lu Meng and Zhang Fei die in the immediate aftermath. Not even mentioning its direct result, the Battle of Yiling. What a horrifying battle, truly...

This is why I miss DW having these cut in events happening, now they're just a bunch of text boxes happening during the battle. I feel like DW8 would have also been great with Solo playing with cutscenes like this. At least for Wei it worked really well with Pang De carrying the coffin out beforehand. Speaking of Solo, maybe it's just me, the guitar really feels like it's singing lyrics... I've been slowly trying to make up my own for how it'd sound.

@@TheRealAxman13 I also miss the officer encounter cutscenes in between battle with the iconic sound. The way in game cutscenes flow from normal gameplay is nicely done, but only a few officers get focus. It makes most of the other fights with unique officers feel pretty lackluster.

There's always something I like about the scene before the stage's preparation screen comes up with Cao Cao amused by Sun Quan's request for an alliance to deal with Guan Yu so that Wu can regain the Jing Province while protecting Wei's assets at Fan Castle before Cao Ren and the Wei officers are routed by the God of War and his Shu forces. Then Pang De making his heroic stand and asking that Cao Ren seal the castle before the water attack occurs, declaring that if Fan Castle is to be his grave, then so be it. Awesome.

Gooooooodddd this was so freaking EPIC first time playing this part of the story. It was basically the climax as from here on the 3 Kingdoms entered into their worst period of war. The soundtrack, the build up, the characters, the absolute epicness of it is off the charts. Wish I could play DW5 with a new mind again.

And the aftermath led the outcome lu meng die from his illness, cao cao heard the new of the victory before passing on to the afterlife shu however learn the losses of fan castle unfortunately liu bei won't take that news very well.

This was great battle i think 🔥 but i hate lü meng and lü xun.. because them, guan yu was lost on the battlefield and they were arrogant.. that is why, when i played Dinasty warior 5 empires if lü meng and lü xun were caught by my empire.. i executed them immediately 😂
