Cao Cao is seen as a villain but really he is more of an anti-hero

A friend told me that after the cultural revolution, Cao Cao started to be seen in a more favorable view, since he's aligned with that idea of parting with tradition, contrary to Shu who wanted to restore a past glory. However, I wonder how much of this is an attempt at a neutral view of history, and how much it's an attempt by the CCP to use him as propaganda.

You'd definitely see Cao Cao as more of a villain if you knew about what he did in Xu Province; because historically, Changban isn't the first time that Cao Cao ordered his men to massacre civilians. With the excuse of "revenge for the death of his father", Cao Cao ordered his men to slaughter over 100,000+ civilians all across Xu Province (none of whom "sided" with Tao Qian, nor did they participate in the war). These days, Cao Cao serves as little more than a propagandic symbol that _romanticizes_ the bad old days; when military generals could get away with holding families hostage to force soldiers into servitude and/or murdering non-combatants, all for colorful reasons.

People say he is a despot but one must consider the time he lived! The Han government broke down due to much corruption in high places,people suffered due to this,moral integrity was at a all time low,cults came round to take advantage of people's troubles and the best of people were looking for solutions! Cao Cao helped to strengthen the North and gave people hope again! As for the massacre at Xu province the people there were very bad and deserved it! After killing Cao Cao's father and other kin! If people can't live uprightly,then they deserve to live under tyrants (not that Cao Cao was really a tyrant)!

Yep, I wish they would.. Honestly this is my favorite Dynasty Warriors game, but I don't think Koei have ever remastered any of their games... sooo we might never see it happen !

They really screwed the pooch with DW 9. Future Dynasty Warriors games need to be mixtures of 7 and 8. The story telling of 7 and the gameplay of 8. If they focus on what they have done right we still might see a great next gen Dynasty Warriors game.

No, I actually want them to really improve their cutscenes. Like DW7 has the greatest way of showing such ways to bring emotions into it. Like, I dint believe any of the DWs games had any competition for their best cutscenes and music directions.
