Is the boost controller capable of spooling quickly and limiting boost to ~16psi? That's all that rig needs with its current fuel input. Video showed increasing boost above what it needs and then good spool+excessive boost levels. Then you seem to go back to slower spool and 16+psi. Never landed on the ideal: good spool + 16psi.

Good vid guys with just boost👍 needs more fuel , raising rail pressure should do it ?
@Melkor54 Жыл бұрын
or switch it out for a mech pump

Agree more fuel ⛽️ would be been nice, but it was good to see that just adding the boost valve did make a difference, even untuned

Have you tried the new GFB electronic version?

no not yet but it’s something we will look into forsure, atm we don’t have assess to any dynos for testing purposes

Great vid guys, what size and what brand is the fan?
@GREASEGARAGE2 жыл бұрын
Gday Adam it’s a 9 inch fan mate, off ebay.. i think the brand was triton? but it’s doesn’t really matter , paid 39bucks aussie for it

Does the v2 work seperately to the ecu?
@GREASEGARAGE2 жыл бұрын
yes completely separate, if you check out this video, it shows you in install kzbin.info/www/bejne/sGeuaZimZqaieKM thank you for your question

@@GREASEGARAGE thanks mate :) whatched that Video but was not sure where the vacuum line came from :) just wanted to make sure since I don't have a ecu and no idea how that thing works Keep up the good work guys love the videos

would this work adding a vgt turbo to an older 4d56 engine?@@GREASEGARAGE

@@Melkor54 Hey mate, Yes because it has a Variable-geometry/vane turbocharger should work well ❤

Unfortunately it'll go into limp mode with anything over 16psi without a tune.

it is a shame, for sure .. but if you get the spool right there is still gains to be had

@@GREASEGARAGE hi guys, how do you change the spool? Do you need the Dino to do it? Or you can do it manually? Thanks in advance for the advice cheers 🍻
@GREASEGARAGE2 жыл бұрын
@@majoadventureswa5745 great question, I did go into this a little on another video, but happy to explain , on the GFB controller one dial does boost pressure and the dial does “spool “ so on these turbocharges there isn’t a wastegate that bypass the exhaust gases around the turbo’s turbine, there is however a variable vane system. All you really need to know about this system is it changes how the exhaust flow pass the turbine, meaning it can be more efficient in the low rpm due to how the exhaust gases are being channel , this is normal controlled by a actuator, and this is how the GFB boost controller works, it is changes when the turbo actuator sees vacuum/pressure etc , if you want great boost and spool untuned there is a happy spot on these controllers, you want to up you boost pressure alittle to about 14 psi and adjust your spool , till your happy , it will take you time to get it right, as when you adjust one it will change the other slightly. Yes on the dyno it is pretty easy, but for those at home a boost gauge and the old butt dyno is all you need, i hope that has helped you a little

Large Fmic immensely better again Top mounts heat soaks
@GREASEGARAGE3 жыл бұрын
agreed a very underrated mod if you have the room to fit them
@vica1537 ай бұрын
Top mounted intercoolers are terrible for anything other than highway cruising. Even then there are still worse than a front-mounted or air-to-water. Even the little bit of heat soak on the dyno and spool was immediately horrible. Hot summer day around town would be even worse. I bet most of the time that rig would do the same or better with no intercooler at all. Swap in AWIC or FMIC and it would better all the time. Lower temps, more consistent temps, better spool.
@GREASEGARAGE6 ай бұрын
With the highflow fan it really was doing a good job from what we could see, of course there is other things we could of done see how good it was working, installing a before and after Air temp sensor and data logging it and also logging the egts. but just with the fan on, You could feel the temperature going down,.. I couldn't say this is better then a FMIC or Air\Water.... but I really don't believe it could be worse then having no intercooler at all.. but that does sound like a good ep... so I might have to find another diesel and give that a go.. thank you that was great feed back
@vica1536 ай бұрын
@@GREASEGARAGE Air to Water is a bit of a pain to setup, but the best for consistency at slower speeds. If you can fit a front mount that would be the easiest and best for highway cruising You can do it! You have the technology!
