This Dyson Animal Ball vacuum product review looks at why we love the DC41 Dyson! The Dyson Animal Ball vacuum review and ratings from consumers are superb. J.D. Power lists Dyson in its top 3 vacuums year after year.
We love the Dyson Animal Ball vacuum for its performance, quality, research, and design. Not to mention its rigorous testing, power, suction, and durable technology.
Angela Brown did this Dyson Animal Ball Vacuum product review because she owns one. She says it's a "rugged vacuum" and Savvy Cleaner Approved. A bagless vacuum cleaner saves time and money for a homeowner and a professional house cleaner.

Angela Question for you, I have all hardwood floors in my home. Would you recommend this vacuum for floors as well ? I have a new 3 month old & really want clean floors & im looking for a good Vac. Also what are your thoughts on steamers for Harwood floors? Do they really disinfect? I just want clean safe floors for baby, as she is going to start crawling soon. Please link any videos or comments that can help. Thanks!

I recently got the Dyson Ball Animal 2. Best vacuum I've ever owned. Had pet hair literally everywhere that our other vacuum just would not pick up. You could go back and forth in the same spot for hours and it wouldn't clear it. However the animal 2 sucked everything up with literally 1 pass through. Even when the carpet looks clean it finds tons of stuff to suck up. I can't speak on the test of time but so far it's the best vacuum I've ever had. Worth every penny of the $500 price tag. Which the wife gave me a hard time about until I vacuumed the entire house and all the pet hair was gone. Highly recommend.

Great review from someone who uses the heck out of the units and can provide real world use over the long term. I just purchased the Animal 2. Dyson had close to 50% off and included 2 tools. I opted for the hardwood floor kit. This makes me feel good about the purchase. Also, what I found hilarious is when you said that it was light weight at 17.2 lbs and seeing you manhandle it and I recall some guys in other videos saying that it was heavy; too funny. Thanks...

Looks like a phenomenal machine. I have a very small home, and after reading the great reviews on the Eureka Whirlwind vacuum, I bought it from Amazon. I am truly in love with this little guy. Terrific suction and easy-peasy to empty and maintain. Plus, it cost $89, which is exactly what my budget could handle.

Angela, would you do a video on how to clean your Dyson animal? I have the same vacuum and mine is looking rough. I admit I don't clean it out like I should. And we live on a farm so it gets used a lot. My main concerns are how dirty the canister is, how gross the bristle brush attachments look, and the ball/smaller wheels are physically rough. How can I better clean my canister and attachments and how do I smooth out the plastic ball and wheel edges to keep it from scratching wood/vinyl or snagging carpet in the future? I really want to keep loving my animal. I still have to pry this beast off of my kitchen floor to reach under things so I know the suction is great! Thanks!

Thanks so much for your awesome demos & explanations. I ordered an Animal Pro 2 & it just arrived yesterday evening. I'm excited to have it but was a bit intimidated by all the attachments. (I got 8 with my Walmart Black Friday deal) You covered most of them (I've labeled those lol) I've got about 3 vacuums accumulated over the yrs with various pieces here & there. I can't find which video I had commented on before, but I told you I was looking to buy a new vacuum cleaner since ours had died. You asked me to update you and let you know which one we chose. Well, after looking at various vacuums and watching your videos, my husband decided that the $300-400 for the new vacuum I liked was too much. Instead, for about $70 he completely revamped our Eureka The Boss and brought it back from the dead. It is running like a champ! Although I always enjoy getting something shiny and new, I'm very happy to have a handy hubby who knows there are other new, shiny things, more fun than a vacuum cleaner to save money for. Thank you for all your informative videos! They are so helpful.

I just moved from a house with hard floors to a house with a mix of hard and carpet. I have a cordless Shark that served me well at the old house, but using it on carpet drains the battery more quickly. And it's not really powerful enough to fully suck up carpet dirt and cat hair. I do hate cords on vacuums though. It becomes a battle and the vacuum usually wins!😄😄 This vacuum looks like a real champ!👍🏻👍🏻 Putting it on my list of possibilities.😁
@AskAngelaBrown
@AskAngelaBrown 2 жыл бұрын
If you have a mix of hard flooring and carpet this vacuum is a win-win. It's got really strong suction and with the accordion face place you can go from carpet to hard flooring without making any manual adjustments to the vacuum. It's pretty lightweight too so it's easy to maneuver without it being as heavy as the big mac daddy Dysons or as lightweight as the cordless versions. Keep me posted, I want to hear what one you end up choosing. 😍

I've been watching your videos, I like everything you say. I own a cleaning company, and I use 2 vacuums, the main vacuum I use is a commercial canister vacuum, that use bags, and I really love it, it have an EPA filter, plus the bags have 5 layers of filtration, it's really cool, it's really powerful and well built. But it's not really effective on carpet, that's why I have a Cinetic Big Ball Dyson, I have to say that I hate it so much, it do the job, but it's really heavy, uncomfortable and I hate to dump all the trash and get all that dust into my face, but anyway, that's my opinion. Thanks for all the info you share in your videos!

This month (Oct 2020) at Costco, they have this vac -- it's not the new '2' version, however, so they must be trying to move all these out of the warehouses -- with the extra attachments for the low, low price of only $239.99. I could not resist getting it even though my old Dyson DC15 (the original ball model, practically an antique now) works as well as it ever did.

My first Dyson will be coming in a couple weeks. Ordered the Ball Animal 2. The only thing I hate before even getting it, is the UK version has much better options. Their version comes with a reticulating elbow for where the hose attaches to the wand. Has a height adjustment on the cleaner head. And instead of the so-so Flat Out Tool attachment... they have a Turbine Tool attachment that has a beater bar on it.

One of my clients had a Dyson that we used at first, but it had so much suction on carpet the beater bar would stop working. And her model didn't get edges well at all. It may have been a much older model? She prefers my miele, which I also love. It is an investment though, and I've had to repair at least 2 times in the last 5 years. And the "proper" bags that remove 99.9% allergens is an added cost. Still love it and consider it the backbone of my business.

This is a really great review. I was looking for something like this because I currently have a bagged vaccum for personal use that I got for $12 from Walmart because it had been returned/clearanced for God knows what reason, it works fine, but I have three dogs so you can imagine it's not entirely cost effective with how often the bags have to be replaced due to the amount of hair that gets picked up. I also have a cleaning job where the cheap vaccum I had been using is starting to fall apart and with so many options, I wasn't sure what to go with that would be worth the money. As you can imagine, I don't want to spend $300-400 to get the same quality I already have. This product looks to be the best of both works for me. I clean the commons of a condo complex that was built in the 70s and houses a lot of section 8. Not to speak poorly of it, but they're typically some of the nastiest people and it shows. I'm glad I found this channel because I'm always looking for things that'll help make my job easier.
@AskAngelaBrown

If you have pets you might benefit from a canister that you can empty often without having to replace a bag each time. The less expensive vacuums still have bags, but you make up for the difference in cost with the expensive bags. Bagless vacuums are the way to go, especially if you're doing heavy duty cleaning.

We've had the Dyson DC 25 for the last 5 or 6 years and that thing has been Bullit-Proof!! We got the new Animal 2 yesterday from eBay for $330.00, they call it "Overgood" the exterior of the box scuffed and scraped, no holes or crushed or anything like that, it's even shipped in another box. We have two dogs of our own, the Bassist sheds like crazy, and another mix small dog that sheds real small fur, my brother has a Labradoodle that shed golfball size furball and about a dozen others over the years. We have Wood Tile and Carpet, I vacuumed the carpet with the DC25 first and then with the Animal 2, We couldn't how much more and the really fine dirt dust it sucked up, it really makes the carpet stand up too. One of the real tests will be the grout in the tile floor and how much cleaner it stays, that's usually with a different machine. When on the carpet it's like a self-propelled lawnmower, hang on to it, no pushing required. The only thing I don't like about the 2 is the way they changed the pull-out tube how it loads off and back on again, I can already see a cut from the sharp plastic or fingers getting pinched, the DC25 tube was self-loading and foolproof, this Animal 2 you have fool with it, we'll see?? And the head on the DC25 for easy cleaning, the head on the 2 is a different animal, understandable why for cleaning! Our Animal 2 came with the 9 different tools bonus, the two that clip-on, and 7 more with a black storage/carrying bag included. eBay.

Hi Angela, thanks for all your tips and tricks for house cleaning. They have made my life much easier. I bought this exact vacuum based on your review and I love it. I just feel as though the extension hose for the attachments would be better served with some sort of ergonomically correct handle because when I use it, the hose pulls against the direction I am trying to move it and creates wrist strain. Do experience that too or is it just me?
@AskAngelaBrown

Oddly enough it did take some getting used to - now I wouldn't have it any other way. It's completely out of the way when you are not using it and then when you do the release and use of it is such a breeze. After you use it a bit more let me know if you change how you feel about it. If you hate it, I'd return it and get something you like better.

Ooh would you consider upgrading to the Ball Animal 2? it's basically the same as the DC41 except it has more power at cleaning carpets, the beater bar has been redesigned and it'll vibrate the carpet more than the DC41 and therefore will get the deep down grit more! The DC41 is fantastic though, I love Dyson balls, we have been using one of these since 2015 till present, it's even my profile picture! You have a great vacuum there. As a vacuum collector and enthusiast I have tried many brands and models, the Dyson ball is the default vacuum I'd always go for. It's almost perfect in my opinion

This is a newer model amzn.to/3bxLoEa and comes with all the attachments. Mom and I were talking earlier tonight and she hates hers because at her age it's too hard for her to push. She likes the cordless one. Vacuums are one of those things like shoes, everybody has their own preference. The key is to find one that fits your hand and is comfortable for you to push and if you are carrying it up and down a flight of stairs that you are able to lift it. True story, before I ever buy a vacuum I go to a store that sells the model I'm looking at. Then and I lift it up over my head to see how easy or hard it is to carry. LOL.

Hi Angela, Love your much needed and appreciated youtube channel as it's good to get perspective from a cleaning professional that confers with other cleaning professionals and shares with the world. Respect your review, but totally disagree with bottom line on dyson Animal. I'm a person with a science background and an old dyson owner who needed to get a new vacuum and got the dyson animal (or was it animal +) from costco and returned it. So disappointed that the advancements to the dyson did not translate to improved quality and user experience: the powerful motor is crippled when using the narrower hose diameter -- narrower than old dyson -- which means decreased capability to move dirt through hose. New dyson was WAY TOO LOUD! Attachments went down in quality from my earlier dyson. The old dyson stayed upright easily , but the new dyson tipped a number of times and crashed so loud I feared it was going to wreck my hardwood parquet flooring. It behaved badly with my rugs too. It worked well on my carpet, but that was it. The experience with the dyson animal was such a downturn from my original workhorse flagship dyson that I had for maybe fifteen years that I returned it after a week -- or was it a weekend -- sad and horrible experience. I used it a few times and just got more and more frustrated and disappointed and felt like dyson didn't really care about the user or the user experience. I got feeling dyson's concern was not for customer, but for dyson ability to claim patents, power, bells, & whistles. I have a science background and have experience with folks that care more about tech than the user and the user experience, and this is an example of poorly implemented tech. I returned that dyson animal and got a ridiculously expensive miele that works well, but admit I'm still looking for an awesome vacuum that meets my needs. Considering the back pack model from conversations I've had, performance I've seen, and your vid on backpack vacuum. Hey! Maybe I need to invent an awesome vacuum! :-) Stay tuned! Like you, I'm working on leaving the world a cleaner and better place than I found it using efficient, effective, user-friendly, planet-friendly ways to do it.

Hello Teresa! I own a cleaning company, and I really understand everything in your Story, what I use for my company is a canister vacuum, it's not perfect, but in 5 years on the industry, is the best vacuum I ever had, it's half price of Dyson, I bought also a Miele, is good, but for 500 bucks it doesn't worth it, so, please, look for "Clean Obsessed CO701", trust me, it's (for me) the best vacuum for hard floors and low pile carpet you can get, it use bags, really good bags, and you can get them for a littler more of a dollar if you buy few package, not like Miele bags that cost 20 dollars just 4 bags, that's ridiculous! Hope you like this comment!

My GF bought the purple Dyson, I have an old used Electrolux upright off craigslist for $100. The same one my mom had back in the 80s. There is no comparison. Find a decent used Electrolux. Lux still makes them new, but they're around a thousand dollars. Dyson stuff clunky and complicated, and made out of cheap rigid plastics. I hate breathing the dust cloud when opening the bottom hatch of the Dyson. I prefer the bag. open the top, throw out the bag. No dust. The bags are super cheap. I had to disassemble the chamber in her's a over the years, they get clogged internally. I also had to replace a switch. I have the electrolux about 20 years. Never had to take it apart. The hose is way better to. It doesn't shrink and drag the machine around while youre trying to use it.

I have owned the original yellow Dyson vacuum for 17 years and have never regretted spending $500 on it. It has more than made up for the cost by its longevity, its ability to suck up anything(even gets up moist dirt from the fibers) and ease of use and the long cord allows me to go from one end of my house to the other without unplugging. Absolutely the best vacuum ever.

Hi Shardinae, each model has a few improvements and upgrades. But like the iPhone that has so many different updates - they all still do basically the same thing. Any of the vacuums will pick up dust and crumbs and pet hair, good for hard surface flooring and carpet. You can't go wrong with a Dyson. Buy the one that is affordable to you, that is lightweight enough that you can maneuver it around, and then trust you've bought the right one. 😍

I use this on hardwood floors all the time, I've never had it scratch. It does have an attachment you can use if you prefer but I just use the vacuum itself. It does have an accordion head that pulls the beater bar up and down from carpet to hardwood floors if you're moving between them so your vacuuming is equally effective.

Hi Angela, I love your videos and your expertise in cleaning houses. I have subscribed to your channel and enjoy learning from you. I am not a professional house cleaner, however my husband and I are purchasing a brand new manufactured home being built right now and should be ready in the next four months. I wanted to know how to keep it clean so I found you on KZbin and I'm watching your videos which are very informative and they really make me wanna become a house cleaner. This is my first time with a question. My concern is because the home that we are purchasing will have laminate and vinyl flooring and carpet. I was wondering if the Dyson that you are speaking of in this video would also be OK for the laminate and vinyl flooring or should I consider something else since it has the beater bar? From what I am researching about laminate and vinyl flooring, you should not use a vacuum with a beater bar because it could damage the flooring. I wonder if it could be used. And if not what is your recommendation for laminate and vinyl flooring? Thank you so very much for all that you do in this industry.

Hi Cori, my Dyson filters take about a day to dry in the sunshine. 24 hours max. I clean it first thing in the morning to get as much sun drying time as possible. I do shake and tap it somewhat gently and squeeze them a little with a dry towel to absorb and remove as much water as i can prior to setting it in sunshine to dry. I also turn it over after several hours to expose all surface area to sunshine. I dont leave it out in the night air, I bring it inside overnight if i need to and take it back outside in the morning to complete the drying if necessary. Usually one day is enough and turning it over every few hours really helps. Hope this helps.
