In the previous episode I explained how to fix the scaping or rattling noise on a Hot and Cold Dyson fan. During the video I breifly explained why what was going wrong was going wrong. In doing so I needed to disassemble the fan and then reassemble it. Here is the video of me doing that.

Thanks- this was really helpful! Just finished a rebuild on this model that was filled with tobacco tar, -yours was the only helpful video on the hot/cold model out there! Dyson really don't want users servicing their own equipment do they! ;) Nice Work.

Dyson's fan look neat outside. It's harder to clean inside of it. I use my Dyson vacuum to clean the grill often, that try to let less dust in.

Today I fully disassembled my (similar) AM07 fan which was highly clogged at the intake. It took quite a while to figure out how to get it all apart and some caution around the delicate motor loom, loom passthroughs and some plastic clips, but it is possible to fully disassemble these units for cleaning/repair if you care to do so. Didn't find any full disassembly guides and only considered filming mine a bit late in the process, but it's good to see some actually useful videos like this one, thanks OP. For any disassembly that becomes complex, I recommend taking some photos at the key stages and keeping different screws/pieces on a blank piece of paper where you can describe/sketch their location to avoid any missing ones :)

Why do the video in speed motion when you are explaining how to disassemble? It’s extremely difficult to see exactly what you are doing.

Thanks for your instructions on how to open the Dyson. I was getting H2 error code on my Dyson hot& cool fan. Opened it up and cleaned out the interior. Then vaccumed and brushed the airblades and my Dyson started working again. I've read you can also open up the airblades and clean them out, but requires a lot more work and separating glued plastic pieces... fortunately I didn't have to do that.

I took the top off and separated the bottom a bit then used compressed air to blow the dust out. There was a lot of dirt in there. Works great now. You can even blow around the top where the air comes out and get the dust out of there as well. Mine took a T-8 torx bit for the screws.

This was super interesting but I am not feeling confident that it will solve my problem. My fan (hot/cold) is grossly clogged at the intake. It works but not effectively. Any ideas?
@cyberprompt

Hi Chris, funny you wrote this yesterday and I took mine apart today for the same reason, intake problems. I did NOT take the top off, I might try that later, but I was able to get my GROSSLY CLOGGED fan back to around 90% airflow buy taking off the bottom only (my screws were STAR, not Phillips, so have a small screwdriver kit) 1. take off the platform 2. on its side, slide the base and you'll see two retaining screws, repeat other side, sliding to reveal them (4 total for mine) 3. this exposes the fan, use a Q-Tip to pull out junk between all the fan blades, then clean around the interior as needed 4. to clean the perferations on the plastic housing (you know the 1000 of them?) I used a cup of hot water and a toothbrush to brush and poke into the holes. When doing this, you can hold a paper towel inside to catch extra water. repeat a couple times, you'll miss a bunch of holes, check with light. Use an air can blowing from the outside-in with the paper towel. Wipe it all down, should be much cleaner and have open holes! Then just butten it back up. The top portion probably has crap in it too, I'm sure mine does, but i did enough today on it! GOOD LUCK!

Anyone concerned how to quickly clean a BADLY CLOGGED bottom air intake read my response to Christopher Giangarlo below. My fan was clogged with years of cat hair mixed with vaporizer juice from vaping in my room, STICKY AND GROSS! Air flow went from about 10% to 90% cleaning the intake grill and fan.

This was a nightmare and I got frustrated at the part she skipped, ended up busting and writing it off since the white lever clips on the inside and way too delicate for most people to try and remove, kept going since I knew it was bust and just wanted to see how far I could go with it, over 50 screws later and some still left in, removed about a dozen circuit board clips and had to cut a bunch of welds to get all the wires apart(no big deal could have re sodered),watched other videos on how to clean them and they did nothing, there is so much more gunk on the inside,DONE! can't put it back together now lol, had no idea what I was doing when I started :)

That's after you have been to technical college and after you've signed away any warranty from Dyson. Just follow Dyson's s instructions and vacuum it out with a vacuum nozzle. Simples.

The problem here wasn’t the cleanliness of the fan, it was a screw inside that had rattled itself loose because it had not been properly tightened at the factory. Has been running perfectly fine since this video and hasn’t rattled since
