By far the best 3d flying with this plane on the internet! Great job! i just bought one and can't wait to fly. I can do harrier rolls but really want to learn inverted harrier. Some say this plane doesn't do them well but you prove otherwise, and nose heavy.

Hands down best video for this plane yet!! You have serious skills my friend great flight , I just won one of these eflight extra 300's at a raffle seems like a good one. I stll have the red bull eflight but I think this one will be a much better 3D performer. Thanks for your video

Great flying. Nothing wrong with the video quality IMHO. That flying field is a dream. Thanks for the tip below about the ruddier mixing for KE. Mine needs something. I thought it might be tail heavy since it pushes to the gear on knife edge. I do have 6 clicks of down on the trim. Trying a little mixing next time out since straight and level is hands off and inverted is also close to hands off. I'm flying a 4s 3300 also.
@AP3D Жыл бұрын
Thanks. RE: CG -- it is definitely not going to be tail heavy with a 4s 3300. Because of the short coupling it has a good amount of pitch sensitivity which I think gets conflated with being tail heavy. With a 4s 2200 pushed toward the rear it is definitely tail heavy; still flies ok but it has some undesirable characteristics. I would highly suggest setting up a KE mix and leave it on all of the time. Nearly every airframe has some pitch coupling with rudder; I run mixes in everything I fly and once dialed in you can forget it's there.
I can do a lot of the 3D stuff with this plane but you’re so polished and smooth, great job. Subscribed I have problems getting this to knife edge spin sometimes seems like it needs rail weights or I have a skill issue lol
@AP3D5 ай бұрын
Thanks! This plane is a bit tricky to get into a good KE spin because it doesn't have a lot of pitch authority at low airspeed, especially with a heavy battery and forward CG. I've found starting with a vertical downline, full left aileron for a few rotations and then inputting full down elevator and right rudder and powering up while neutralizing the aileron is an easy way to get into a good KE spin (and it looks cool). The inputs are pretty simple but the timing is key.

Really best 3D flight video of this plane on youtube. I've ordered one as well, could you please tell me, you've mentioned that your 3300mAh is heavy, so, how much it is? Ordering a batteries for that plane, that's why I'm asking.. thank your for great flight !!!)
@AP3D4 ай бұрын
Thanks! The HRB 3300mah is 12oz. The weight itself is not a problem, but with the pack as far back as it will go the CG is still more nose heavy than I would prefer. I prefer the heavier pack on windy days but it still flies great either way.. Lately I've been flying it with 4s 2200mah that weighs 8.5oz and have the opposite issue. It's a bit more tail heavy with the pack forward between the velcro straps. A 4s in the 10oz range would probably be perfect but the plane has a very wide CG range so it comes down to personal preference.

Finally got the EXTRA 300. Haven't done the Maiden yet. Got a problem. With a 4s 3300 shoved all the way forward, I'm still WAY tail heavy. Have you ever heard of this in the past.

I can 100% guarantee you it is not tail heavy with a 4s 3300 in any position. Just fly it.

Thanks! As a suggestion, get rid of the SAFE training wheels as soon as you can. You'll be a much better pilot without it.
@mailtaz2 жыл бұрын
Never used safe mode, rather learn from my own mistakes, makes you a better pilot. Better off starting with a basic trainer with no safe mode. I watch alot RC You Tube videos where the flyers use safe mode mostly then turn it off and crash shortly after.

Can you elaborate on the rudder/elevator mixing you’re using for knife edge? I understand that you’re telling the plane to adjust the elevator in a certain way when using the rudder, I just need to know what way. I would great,y appreciate it. Thank you!
@AP3D9 ай бұрын
Nearly every airframe has a tendency to pitch toward the belly with rudder input. This is apparent in knife edge flight but the pitch coupling exists in every attitude. To compensate I have a mix coupling up elevator with rudder input. It's progressive and just a few degrees of up at max rudder deflection; takes 2-3 tries to get it perfectly dialed, and the mix is somewhat dependent on the CG.

Amazing flying! What are your secrets for such a nice knife edge spin? I have the same plane and have been struggling to get the rotation around the wing tube like you can.

Hey I can’t decide if I should get the Eflite 300 or go for an extreme flight 60” model. I’m not quiet at your level but fairly confident 3d flyer. I see you fly all sorts of planes. Do you feel there is a big difference between a “pro” airplane and this eflite one?
@AP3D4 ай бұрын
The 60" Extreme Flight (or Skywing, etc..) offerings are without a doubt significantly better in every single way. Worlds apart. They make the Eflite look and feel like a toy in comparison. If you can swing it I would absolutely recommend the 60" stuff 10x over the Eflite. My 60" Laser is one of my all time favorites - it flies like a much larger airframe, just a bit quicker. The Eflite flies its size and doesn't have nearly the same roll/pitch/yaw authority, doesn't track nearly as well, etc..
@aaronblankenbyl4 ай бұрын
Ok that’s a clear case then. Decision made :) thanks for your help. I’ve been doing lots of research watching videos but that’s the advice I needed 👍
@aaronblankenbyl5 ай бұрын
Which battery do you feel is the best one to use? Obviously 4s but capacity wise? Amazing flying by the way, this will take me long to achieve
@AP3D5 ай бұрын
Thanks! I think for most a 4s in the 3000 range is going to be the best option, at least to start. You get more flight time and the forward CG helps the plane track, especially in windy conditions and it will still 3D. With a 2200 as forward as possible it is very tail heavy (climbs on an inverted 45° upline) so it flies very 'loose' and tumbles better, etc.. I like the lighter battery in very calm conditions. The heavier 3000 is a better balance for sport/precision and basic 3D.
@aaronblankenbyl5 ай бұрын
That’s very helpful. Thanks for providing all the insights 👍

Nice flying. Did you change motor, prop and receiver. On stock setup, this plane has trust-weight ratio about 1.37 which is not enough for steady hang prop and high alpha. This is my case on stock setup. Thank you.
@AP3D2 жыл бұрын
No, this is 100% stock out of the box with the exception of the receiver ( I don't fly Spektrum). Any healthy and proper C-rated 4s pack will provide a tremendous amount of thrust like you see here. There is no need to 'upgrade' anything though a 13x6.5 prop speeds things up a bit.
@richardmiddleton7770 Жыл бұрын
You may not be getting full throttle or have a bad motor or batteries. To prop hang you only need slightly over 1:1 ratio. If you want more thrust you just need a 14x5 or 14x4 prop. You can also easily lighten the plane by removing the pilot and all the yellow plastic parts around and landing gear and wheels, this saves 90g total!
@jamesmilam6176 Жыл бұрын
You mentioned you are not using Spektrum. Are you using any type of mixing like flaperons or “Harrier Flaps” ??
@AP3D Жыл бұрын
No. I do have a rudder/knife edge mix that is always enabled which removes the pitch and roll coupling from large rudder inputs. This coupling occurs at any attitude, not just knife edge flight, hence why it is always enabled. No other other mixing is used or needed. I do the same for every airframe, regardless of size. There is zero need for a flaperon mix for high alpha/3D flight.
@jamesmilam6176 Жыл бұрын
@@AP3D I understand the coupling involved as I’ve witnessed myself hence the question to begin with… That being said I see Jon over @ Twobrothers rc also has his setup with “harrier flaps” to prevent wing rock during high alpha…. I was pretty adept back in the late 90’s to early 2000’s most notably with a GP U-Can-Do 60 and a Kyosho Flip3D…first powered with a Saito100 and second A YS63 both Nitro….. Been out of the hobby since 2009 and just now getting back in and looking for advice as I’m new to the electric scene

Where do you like the CG? Mine is still very tail heavy with a 4s3200.
@miguelj.cardenas48412 жыл бұрын
I use Zippy 3700 4S in order to get the CG in 100. (the manual say 90-100)
@richardmiddleton7770 Жыл бұрын
This plane will fly fine at 110mm CG. Check where your ESC is, it's loose in there, push/pull it all the way forward. I turned mine round so the motor wires were out of the way and battery lead comes into the front of the battery compartment instead of the rear. Also when checking CG, make sure to balance it level instead of just trying to lift it off the ground as it will already be tail down and give the impression it's tail heavy. Hope this helps.

@AP3D2 жыл бұрын
Sim time and foamies are the best way to learn but either way you just need stick time. This airframe is very capable but it's not the best 3D trainer. It has plenty of power to quickly get you out of trouble, but it lacks a bit of pitch and rudder authority in high alpha and hovering. When it doubt, throttle out!

Great flying. Do you know anybody flying with a 4s 2200mah pack. Will it balance with that size and what are the flight times. Let me know please. THANKS.
@AP3D2 жыл бұрын
I have two 4s 2200mah packs that I use in this airframe. It balances perfectly fine with them and unlike the 3xxx packs you can actually get the CG more rearward. Flight time is ~5 min depending on flying style. The lighter packs are great on very calm days. I have some video of 2200's I might post.
@gisall82052 жыл бұрын
@@AP3D THANKS a lot Buddy. I have a hand full of 2200s and to invest in more, larger batteries will cost more than the actual airplane. Which is no longer that affordable the way H.H. keeps bumping their prices up $40 at a time. Again and again. I'll just add a little amount of weight on the windier days.
@AP3D2 жыл бұрын
@@gisall8205 I wouldn't worry about adding any weight for the wind. I find it cuts a bit better with the extra weight and more forward CG with the 3xxx but it's perfectly fine with the 2200s, just move them a bit more forward if its windy.

@Cosme4229 ай бұрын
My CG is waaaay aft. Is that correct?
@AP3D9 ай бұрын
I prefer the plane with an aft CG. With a 3200-3300mah pack you can't really get the CG rearward as much as I would like, even with the battery pushed as far back as it will go. With a 2200mah pack you need the battery forward so that the tail of the pack is just behind the rear velcro strap. In that config the plane is nearly hands-off inverted.

@@AP3D I was finally able to add a ton of weights inside the cowl/nose to get the CG tipping forward slightly, and it finally performs amazing! Inverted and all. Plus a spektrum 4000 pack all the way forward. It went from crap flying to super fun! I’m just glad it did because I was ready to give up on it. Thanks for your input.
