Voice of experience speaking here. Flip all the shackle bolts around so you can see the nuts from the side of the trailer. This makes it easy on a pre-trip to confirm all the nuts are there and easy to catch one backing off before it is gone.

Lots of good info. My guess as to why the fenders are cut and flattened is that at some point someone either severely overloaded the trailer or had oversized tires that rubbed the fenders so they cut and flattened them to keep them from rubbing.
@BrandonLund14 күн бұрын
Hmmmmm. Oddly enough, that rear axle tire on that side was much larger than the other 3. I think they blew a tire and used what they had for a spare. Your observation makes perfect sense now. Thank you! 👍

Once, a marvelous video. One observation. You need a shop to work in. Lol. Outside work sucks. Even though you make it look fun.
@BrandonLund14 күн бұрын
Thanks man! I definitely need a big shop! It's not so bad in the summer, it's actually pretty nice, but not so much in the winter lol.

I had to do some welding underneath my son’s Durango, let’s just say I got welding sparks where a guy shouldn’t lol and yes I wasn’t wearing the proper clothing, love the videos Brandon 👍😁
@BrandonLund14 күн бұрын
Thanks Dave! There isn't much worse than working and welding under anything. Sparks, dirt, rust and 90% somehow manages to find its way into my eyes, regardless if I'm wearing glasses and a shield lol.

I was thinking about the gate you were going to replace on the rear of the trailer. If it was mine I think I would Bill half of the trailer ramp/gate onto the rear of the trailer and have it angled downward. Then attach the hinges to the other half, it would make it a lot lighter than a full length ramp. I'm sure you've seen many of those on the road.
@BrandonLund14 күн бұрын
Funny you mention this...I've been toying with this idea for a couple weeks. Your suggestion might just be the push I needed. My only concern is putting a beaver tail can sometimes make getting out of low spots difficult, but I could also not make it too steep. I like the idea if a shorter ramp also. You got me thinking Jay! 🤔
@richardwalters180314 күн бұрын
Mr. Lund, your video was great. If I may suggest a few videos since you work outside so much. How about a video of running a clean 30 amp circuit to your garage with an outside receptacle for 120 and or 240 also for your welders and air compressor. Just an idea

Great suggestion! This is definitely on my soon to do list. Probably in the next couple weeks or so 👍

As to your tripping circuit breaker, have you tried using a thicker gauge extension cord? (if you are using 14 gauge, for example, use 12 gauge instead, etc). Not sure if it will help, but extension cords that heat up due to heavy current draw drop more power than thicker gauge wires (that is, your power is going into heating the wires instead of being transferred to the instrument)
@BrandonLund14 күн бұрын
I think your probably right! I will have to give that a try. Thank you! 👍

I think you're right. I will have to see if I can burn PT in the fireplace...
@darrylwagar414414 күн бұрын
You should not burn it , the chemicals they use to treat the wood are harmful to you when burned.
@CathyDickersonFireflyMill13 күн бұрын
@ Any pine in general shouldn’t be burned in a fireplace because of the build up of creosote it causes in the chimney. This can lead to chimney fires.

Loving this series Brandon. I am also someone who has to do the big work outdoors. Michigan is not nice in the winter! You gave away a YesWelder a couple of years ago. Curious on your thoughts 2 years later? They have some great deals going now on MP welders.
@BrandonLund12 күн бұрын
I'm really happy. The manufacturers of these imported welders have really stepped their game up. For the price, I really like Yeswelder and ArcCaptain. The Yeswelder MP200 is actually my dedicated mobile welding machine. I use it primarily for stick welding, but it also does mig and tig when I need it

Same, but painting in 20 degree weather is problematic. It's getting fully disassembled and blasted in the spring after all the mods and fabrication are done.

That floor might be coated with a mixture of used oil and diesel fuel, so might not want to burn it in the house!
@BrandonLund14 күн бұрын
Hahaha knowing my luck Jake, it would be. Reminds me of the time when I was in high school. My parents weren't home, so I figured I would start a fire for them in the fireplace for when they got home. I found a large box in the garage filled with shredded paper so I figured I would burn all of it. I accidentally started a chimney fire. It was scarry. No damage but it felt like the house was shaking. I'm very careful now not to get the fire too big and I clean the chimney every year to prevent it.
@jakeschisler752513 күн бұрын
@BrandonLund the guy who had lived at this place I'm at now was a welder and not sure which one used a quarter inch pipe for the chimney in the building and talk about heavy duty. It runs from the ground outside up to where the connection goes into the building and way up past the roof where it should be. He made his own cap out of thick steel too! I bought a chimney sweep that hooks to a drill. He did leave an opening close to the bottom to do that. I put a piece of stove pipe to cover the hole and drilled and tapped the holes for bolts. The pipe is just big enough for a 6 inch pipe to fit in. There was a big wood stove that had been there but it didn't look to be in good shape so bought a new one.
@BrandonLund13 күн бұрын
Leave it to a welder to overbuild it! That will probably outlast time! 👍
