I totally enjoying your videos. They are raw and real and you show the what sailing is like. You show the "I pissed my pants" like when the rain and wind and swells was really bad and you lowered the main sail. And the days when you have good wind flat water and just sail and sail smooth and nap and snack and read. I don't know ANYONE who could do what you are doing. I don't know how you do it!

Rain, storms (up to a point), make me feel more alive. Glad to see you enjoying nature and especially sailing. Not that I have actually sailed yet, but soon I will. I really like where you said that when you are sailing, you don't feel guilty for doing nothing as you are at least moving. Very insightful, that might explain why I feel more relaxed on the water. The easy going style of this video is great.

Peanut butter (23:56) : Calvé pindakaas is the staple food of every Dutchie. It's a bit creamy, so you don't need to butter your bread first. It's also less finely ground and not as sweet as the US brands. Calvé pindakaas has no added sugars. As for 'crunchy', I assume you mean nuts, not sugar. The one you show is the regular Calvé pindakaas. They also have a version 'Stukjes pinda' - i.e. 'Small pieces of peanut' - which is crunchy. That's my favourite. Awesome on white bread. You can add some chili paste (sambal) on top for some kick. It seems Calvé also has an 'Extra crunchy' version, extra course ground. Haven't seen that in the shops yet.

As with other comments, the audio was a bit messed up, but the filming made up for that. Glad you're living this at your age. 9:30 : like in these cases also : make sure you have 1 or 2 up to date backups of whatever data you wouldn't want to lose. Best on two external devices too (USB-sticks, SSD's) of which you put one on your keyring. Never think "This won't happen, not to me!" Because it *will*, and to you too. Never make 2 minutes negligence before make you regret for 2 days afterwards.

Love you content! For pole management I use a fore and an after guy (pre marked) this locks the pole down with or without the sail deployed. As the jib sheet runs easily through the pole jaw and the pole is totally secured this means you can jibe the jib on and off the pole all from the cockpit. Can go into more detail if you want. It’s a game changer!
@ontheruntonowhere3 жыл бұрын
More detail please. Which pole?
@svbluehighway3 жыл бұрын
@@ontheruntonowhere Any standard whisker pole. For blue water work we don’t use a flimsy telescopic pole. You can buy a decent used one for pennies on the dollar or go all out and get a carbon fiber one. For our 44 cutter we use a 4 “ diameter pole.

Hey Capt, been watching for a while, awesome job your doing. I have a daughter your age she grew up sailing and cruising during the summer, with me ole dumb dad. I think iin the video you had all canvas up during the lighting storm, it was calm think. Just a suggestion, drop all sail before the storm gets close enough for lighting to light up the boat. have been absolutely knackered, in similar situations. From dead calm to 50 knt's in a what seemed like seconds, boat slammed over spreaders, in the water, then pined there because of wind speed. This was in my Tayana 37, a teak tank. I do not mean to be critical just a fellow captain passing on a bit of my experiences. Your doing awesome Cheers Pop's
