I fully support your ideas, lines of thought and creation all these years. What I can see is how much your geniune love to Tamiya Hornet is for what you have been creating It is really amazing to see the story of this little buggy didn’t stop at 1984 and its evolution history has now been created and extended which I am very much looking forward to see it’s further development. Tho I keep an original version, I will make 1.0 , 2.0 and even 3.0, feel the difference between them and it may take me years to finish but I can imagine how fun and valuable the experience would be. Cheers. Jeff

I had a Grasshopper and loved its look but never how it drove. Always wanted to mod it but never got too round too it. Ended up getting a TRX Bandit but it taught me my biggest lesson! Now all my RCs (except my King Blackfoot) are 4wd!

I use to race in the 80s and I have fond memories of a starting grid full of hornets and them bouncing down the straight.

Alberto.... Superfly, all three, I've considered to be very exciting developments!! 😎👋👋👋👋 I realize that many of us put down our own work.... But I still think that 2.0 is freaking BRILLIANT!!! It's the Master Class in what can be done to the good old, BASIC bouncing Grasshopper and Hornet. Even though Shapeways charges SO MUCH, and the Shipping is even WORSE, if I can EVER get a *Free old Hopper,* I'm DOING Superfly 2.0. A Grasshopper for free hasn't been easy in Arizona... Personally I like keeping the Bathtub.... That gives it the most original feel. To me anyway. 😉 That's my dream plan anyway.... If I have your attention, I posted a question on your Shapeways Store. Would the Grasshopper II Front Double Wishbone Suspension Kit work in a Mad Bull? Carmine ✈🚂🚙
@AMPROEngineering4 жыл бұрын
Yes we are more critical of our own designs. As for the Mad Bull, I am pretty sure they will not fit. I do not own one though.

@treyfixes8844 жыл бұрын
I love these cars. I’m gearing up to do the front suspension on my next project, but I’m one of those people who doesn’t have a lot of spare parts laying around. I had to purchase all of the hardware and bearings and odds and ends (spacers and what not) to be able to do the job when my shapeways parts get here. What do you think about using this rear suspension without using your designed roll cage? Will my chassis be rigid enough? I’m still on the fence about the rear. Maybe I’ll just wait for the next version, but I really like what you did on the back of superfly 2.4.
@AMPROEngineering4 жыл бұрын
That should be fine without the cage. It was all designed to be modular so people go build the car little by little.

Are you crazy?? 2.0 is a very elegant design, I can’t wait to get cracking on a 2.0....
@AMPROEngineering4 жыл бұрын
Haha! Thanks. It is just that there were a lot of compromises and it cannot fit the stock wheels.
@DoRC4 жыл бұрын
The issue I see with your cantilever setup is that it is progressive in the wrong way. As the suspension compresses the cantilever rotates around and moves the shock less and less (I'm sure there are more technical terms for this but I don't know them). This is why the front suspension gets "stuck" at full compression.
@AMPROEngineering4 жыл бұрын
Yes but there is no room for it. The whole car is a compromise. It was easier when I was designing suspension at Toyota since I could do what I wanted but here I had the stock towers to deal with.
@DeadnCold4 жыл бұрын
Isn't that always the way? You buy a new RC, you love it and start upgrading it to make it faster and stronger and better handling and next thing you know the only thing left of the original car is the front bulkhead..
@AMPROEngineering4 жыл бұрын
Haha! Yeah, I was thinking even that may need to go.
@DUCato-ed3fw4 жыл бұрын
DeadnCold Yeah, I don’t really get it. Surely the originality of these old designs is the appeal, most buy them because they may have had, or wanted them when they were young. All you end up with once modified is a relatively weak, half modern not very good handling buggy which has lost the charm of the original. Might as well plough the same money into something modern if you want a great handling buggy.
