I'm really glad I found the channel. I have a 56 4 Dr sedan so, seeing work on another 56 is awesome, especially since it's work I have to do

Welcome to the ride! I try to make every episode task specific, instead of just random progress from week to week. So, as you follow along, it should be pretty sequential as far as restoring ANY tri-five goes. They all suffer from the same weather and wear, which means that what I'm dealing with is pretty typical for most every other tri-five out there, save for maybe desert cars. And there's maybe a dozen guys following right now that are all restoring a 55 or 56. So, if you ever have questions, chances are one of them is also asking the same thing or maybe can already answer it!

@@RestoringChristine1956 oddly, I have a desert car and I still have a ton of cancer that needs fixed. I’ve been debating just getting an entire floor and trunk, it came with patch panels, and now think I’ll do pans instead just seeing some of what you found digging in.

I enjoyed the video. I like your ideas for prepping the whole undercarriage to be a driver. I see to many cars for sale that are beautiful to look at but not really built to drive. Looking forward to the next steps on Christine. That was one hell of a chunk of bondo, who knows why?
@RestoringChristine19562 жыл бұрын
The interior of the trunk was upholstered with carpet when I bought her and it never ever got wet. Who knew that it was hiding so MUCH?!? The blaster tried to get me to change the name from Christine to "Bondo Betty!"

I was happy to find a new video today. If you’re going for a little bit of a classic hot rod sound, check out some videos on brockman mellow tone mufflers (Indiana). A vote for Bilstein shocks. They made a straight axle feel like a caddie.

I'll definitely look into both! Thanks for the tips!

Been enjoying your videos. I might just make a suggestion on the chassis. I used POR 15 on my 57 pickup and it has turned out great and held up well for over 15 years.. of driving in the summer not winter, which here has salt and snow.. I did early on try paint, just didn't hold up that well. The POR 15 has never chipped or flaked and not faded. All of which happen with the chassis paint I purchased for a very well know company. Keep the videos coming and good luck. Wish I knew how to attach a pic of my vehicle.. I think you would like it.

I might just try POR 15 this time. I've never used it, but have always read all of the debates between the fans and haters. We'll see!
@mikelawler22782 жыл бұрын
I have to ask, with the prep steps of Por-15, how did you prep the entire chassis? I love the stuff but, can’t image keeping the frame wet with metal prep for 30 minutes
@mazeurbanski2 жыл бұрын
like seeing that you're explaining some of the aspects of the tri five chassis for people that don't know what they are and how they are set up keep up the good work

That's my goal, to have something of value and use out there!
@joewolf44832 жыл бұрын
Being an old circle jerker I'm sure your going to "x" the frame for eveness....mine was way off from a previous accident....chains and hydraulic jacks took care of that... I always liked the 3:55 ratio with a standard....3:08 with the auto's... just my preference.... I also did the 605 mated with the original steering box we did back in the day..works fine....keep at it
@RestoringChristine19562 жыл бұрын
That's a great idea and thanks for making sure that I do just that! I'll definitely put a tape measure on it and will make sure that it's square and even. I set the body level on its stands so the body itself should be square when I put the floor in. Better get it RIGHT!

I’m enjoying the videos. Keep up the good work. Any plans on doing Power tour this summer ??
@RestoringChristine19562 жыл бұрын
Glad you're liking them! I have never done Power Tour but I see the decals on plenty of cars at Cruisin' the Coast. I see that it goes from Memphis to Georgia this year. That ought to be doable. I just might!

@@RestoringChristine1956 I’m on the fence about doing it this year. Just depends on work. I should be able to make a decision in a few weeks. The drive between towns is the best part of PT.

Christine? Is that what you are naming her? I know where there is a real Christine sitting up in Splendora Texas. 58 Plymouth. Ready to be restored. Been awhile since I talked to old Johnathan about it but I'm sure he will sell her.

She's been called "Christine" since 2005: kzbin.info/www/bejne/hGSyqqCkbct1nrs

Reading through the comments i agree about the music.. its OK just mute it a bit more. Yours is not bad some or so loud I just turn them off.
@RestoringChristine19562 жыл бұрын
I usually keep the music limited to the time lapse segments, but thought I'd just keep it low and in the background here. It must come through louder depending on how you stream. On the original, laptop browser, and phone app, it's barely audible.
@garysgarage.28412 жыл бұрын
Could be just me but I could do without the background music. I feel like I'm at a bar and can't hear the person next to me. Hurry up and get it done.

I tried to keep the volume dialed down enough to just add a little color and keep with the vibe of my other vids. But I really do appreciate the suggestion and that you're tuning in!

@@RestoringChristine1956 I thought it was a good idea since you're out of town. I like your channel. Good stuff. I'm working on a '57 2Dr Post Gasser project. that is at about the same point in the restoration process. If this was Facebook I'd post a photo of it.
