I honestly don't have a problem with a game shoving you down a linear path, open world is not inherently better than linear games, and the whole RPG elements in every new game thing is getting old too.
@LeopardTheGreat
@LeopardTheGreat 10 жыл бұрын
I honestly think it's more that sandbox-type games are popular nowadays. As an RPG fan who loves games with choices, I've been disappointed with recent games such as Skyrim. I like branching pathways, not a bunch of quests that barely have anything to do with any other quests. Perhaps it's the open sandbox "do whatever you want" elements that are "in" these days.

skyrim is more like make your own path some side uests that dont relate are , well EVERYWHERE but the main guids , you choose which ones to do , same with Which revolution side you side with , Then theres the main dragon thing is you can do it al if you want, but if you do like the mage guild youll kinda ruin a non mage char
@LeopardTheGreat
@LeopardTheGreat 10 жыл бұрын
That's what I didn't care for in Skyrim though. Most of the quests don't relate; there are a few important choices you can make but for the majority of quests that aren't "main story" quests they just don't matter. It's not that I hate Skyrim or have a problem with people who like it, I just personally like having a lot of choices that actually matter. Sorry I didn't word my first post better, I was only disappointed because I enjoyed Oblivion a lot. To be clear, I hardly think karma in RPGs fixes that unless it's done well. When I can become a serial killer but have good karma just because I like my companions something's not right.
@ethan277
@ethan277 10 жыл бұрын
Leopard The Great I agree, especially the karma thing. In the new Fallout games, karma is near completely inconsequential, because both good and evil have the same consequences, and more or less the same perks. And in New Vegas, the karma system doesn't have any function at all.
@LeopardTheGreat
@LeopardTheGreat 10 жыл бұрын
ethan277 Karma in fallout NV was really inconsequential, but I liked the reputation system; a lot more had a direct effect on who liked you and there were good reasons why they liked you (with a few strange exceptions). How all the reputations would change based on what you had done was a nice touch. The karma was rather silly, though. Especially when you could save everyone and have bad karma because you stole almost everything you have. I spent a lot of time playing Fallout 3/NV, and I loved both of them, but the karma system could have been better implemented.

To talk about the Destiny part, um, the browns and grey part aren't the entire game, there are multiple color areas at least depending what area or planet you are on. There was A linear part but that doesn't mean the entire game is linear, you can basically do whatever you want, explore the solar system, decide how you want to play i.e. go stealthy or just go guns blazing like the fucking Doomguy or Serious Sam

I love it when I see comments like this, you realise that when he released this video all ANY of us knew about Destiny was basically what was shown at E3. You can't expect him to be able to see into the future when reviewing these things. Also I've seen a fair few bits of Destiny gameplay now and from what I've seen the majority of the game does take part in very grey or brown areas. I'd say there's easily only about 10% of what I've seen hasn't been grey or brown.

Ok, I'm sorry but I can't stand this. First, brand loyalty is stupid. You pay them and they supply a product or service in return. Second, these are businesses so ultimately their only goal is to make money, and they make more money by providing products or services that customers are more likely to buy. I have no issue with Microsoft, but you need to understand that no company deserves your loyalty. Just remember, to them it's just business. In other words, no, Microsoft does not "Love" you or anyone else the same way Sony, Nintendo or any other company does not "Love" their customers. The feeling is not mutual, so you shouldn't feel obligated to stay loyal to any one company for any reason, they're not here to make friends, they're here to sell you stuff.

@FistfulofSoap
@FistfulofSoap 9 жыл бұрын
So a PC is more expensive than a console- and console games are optimized to run better for said console. (Locked at 30-60 fps, not that it makes a world of difference.) BUUUT, PC gaming is the only way you'll actually ever get to experience games at a better level than what consoles are limited too, as well as its not tethered to any sort of company online bullshit thingamajig. For example: on a playstation 4 or an xbone, you'd have to toss your money at it just for access to multiplayer and "Be allowed" into something that's already an inherent right on a personal computer. I can't really think of ANY PC game that makes you pay for a feature that is sometimes HALF of the development time for a video game. Sometimes even the whole game is based around multiplayer, and if you want to play with your friend online because you just got this rad $80 "deluxe edition" of a game- or whatever, BUT WAIT! Your online account subscription has timed out since the last time you bought it six months ago. Better chip out the ol credit card and pay for some shit that shouldn't just be another fucking hoop to jump through when you want to sit down and play some video games. As well as to make matters worse, the home screen of consoles are LITTERED with ads about shit that I don't think anyone really cares about when their just trying to boot up the new mortal fucking combat- and they can't find it because the Logo art of the game on the screen is substantially smaller than the ads that take up the rest of the useless space. With a PC game on the other hand. You buy it, press play, you're in the game. ANNND You didn't have to circumnavigate the Atlantic Ocean of ads to boot! Now where I can give some leeway is when people don't want to deal with the hassle of maintaining technology, because they'd rather let a hairy spider in their pants than learn how to fix a crash error- or an incompatibility. But even so, technology is evolving constantly and becoming so advanced, that I think by your thirties you should at least get used to dealing with it yourself instead of shunning it away and giving it to some college kid at the apple help desk just to fix something that could have been dealt with by looking up a KZbin video.

Taken directly from pccmasterace subreddit. Educate yourself before you open your ignorant mouth. "Isn't PC gaming more expensive than console gaming?" Whoever told you that is either misinformed or intentionally lying. So no, absolutely not. Especially if you only plan to target console performance! There are already graphics cards available on the market for $120 that surpass the PS4 and XBox One in terms of framerate, resolution, detail, value, and power draw. Console gaming isn't exactly cheap, either . A lot of people incorrectly believe that you have to spend upwards of $750-$1000 to get a PC fully capable of handling games. This simply isn't true! These inaccuracies can be attributed partially to the highly vocal and misinformed masses, and to the availability (and mainstream hype) of the expensive PC hardware we see advertised a lot. You see it more because it's advertised more. Why is it advertised more? Because the companies make more money from selling it as opposed to their mainstream and value offerings. The mainstream/budget parts are the ones you should be looking at; not the $2000+ enthusiast gear. We're not living the 90's any more . PC hardware is cheaper today than it has ever been! When taking a look at the measly selection of replaceable and upgradable hardware that some consoles offer, you'll always find a cheaper and better alternative for your PC . In fact, you can build a PC right now that will outperform "next-gen" consoles for pretty much the exact same price. After all, the "next-gen" consoles are really just watered-down PCs with crippled operating systems. Plus, if you only want to target 30 frames-per-second and only 720p, you're going to save a lot of money. In fact, it's actually hard to find a minimum-range graphics card that can even perform that badly these days. If you only want to match console performance, you essentially cut your GPU budget in half. See TekSyndicate's own explanation and build and this rough explanation for more information. If you're looking to get parts even cheaper than in the example videos, PCPartPicker and /r/BuildaPCSales are great places to get discount hardware for your PC. The next time someone reminds you that 'It's not all about graphics', remind them that they're in luck, because that means they'll be spending almost nothing on their graphics card to achieve the performance they deemed adequate. Here's a heavily simplified example of a modern gaming computer: Type Item Price Modern gaming CPU Athlon X4 or Intel i3 $80 Modern gaming GPU that destroys the PS4 & XBO AMD R9 270 or NVidia GeForce 750 $100 Motherboard High-rated board that fits either CPU $60 Memory 4GB of DDR3, probably 1333 or 1600 $30 Storage Hard drive and/or fast SSD, 1TB(HDD) or 128GB(SSD) $60 Case Whatever appeals to you and fits these parts (likely MicroATX) $50 Power Supply Whatever powers the build, ~400W $30 Total Combination of all estimated prices ~$400 Immediate benefits: No online fees, tons of free-to-play games, free emulators, free abandonware games, much cheaper games thanks to Steam and GOG, re-use old hardware (controller, mouse, keyboard), won't need to upgrade until games start to struggle at 30FPS with low settings.

so... a higher price upfront is too much for you? you're okay with paying for monthly online services and overpriced externals like controllers and headsets? I guess next you'll say you're okay with playing on overpriced, under performing hardware?

Actually,i doubt it will be THAT good,just another MMO with mediocre graphics(console implied) and a little bit of a different story,which i personally find nothing original about. If it was say Star Citizen that was coming only on consoles, (thank god it's not [not even launching on them for the time being] ),now that's a totally different kind of an animal for me.I'll be all over the place screaming "PORT IT ! PORT IT NAO ! "

You have a point. When I saw the first few trailers I was really hyped but the more I wait and hear about it I could probably pass. That doesn't mean I won't want to try it though, I mean, who wouldn't want to play a Halo/Borderlands MMO full of openworldly goodness. Star Citezen looks amazing

Miles Johnson One thing I noticed is that all gameplay demos have all the weapons with unlimited ammo. Is this going to be a literal component or is it just another cheat guys like Bungie use during demos so that no one screws the demo up?

It's a PC-exclusive mode that makes hundreds of units spawn on the map at the same time to make a more authentic Star Wars battle. Basically, it means snipers have a lot of targets.

"shoot here walk here kill him". Thats just like the part where the players entered the dark building, killed some enemies and got their loot. You don't necessarily die if you don't move. You just don't progress unless you keep following the corridor.

Well, out of all of them, I preferred Off the Record for these reasons: -Sandbox mode with NO TIME LIMITS -your character was the one who was infected and needed Zombrex, not some other character -The camera ability, [though mostly the other two were the reasons I liked it. Also, with DR3, there's no stinking loading time for one thing, and hopefully you won't start out with having someone other than yourself, who is or may be infected and need Zombrex. (Then again, like Yahtzee said about hope
