Great video and it helps me understand the whole ball joint installation process. Any idea how much pressure has to be applied for the ball joints to be properly installed without damaging them or getting bad results? Thank you so much for sharing this.

I don't know how much pressure it takes but the cup presses on the outside flange of the ball joint until it has bottomed out and they can't be ruined by too much pressure. The forcing screw could be damaged if you keep trying to force on it once the ball joint is installed.

@@raincitywrench117 Had them installed a few days ago and it was a pretty easy, straight forward process as long as you have all the necessary tools.

Why do most sledge into the side of the control arm instead of banging downwards on the knuckle or ball joint? Is the knuckle more delicate?

Hammering on the knuckle shocks the ball joint threaded end, popping it loose. Pounding on the control arm sends the vibration into the ball joint socket but not up into the knuckle. Beating on the control arm will only destroy it. They make ball joint and tie rod separators but I have never bought a set because it is just faster to make a few crisp strikes on the knuckle.

​@@raincitywrench117I think you have the knuckle and control arm confused. You hammered the I beam control arm not the knuckle. Anyway, what is the torque setting of the castle nut on lower ball joint to control arm? You just tightened it with a wrench not a torque wrench? Why?

Sometimes it just requires a BFH

BFH can fix almost anything especially electronics.

Why would you not replace the uppers especially when it’s like $40-60 more total for both uppers ? Your already there .

It's a trade in, the sales department wants them repaired cheap as possible. If it were my vehicle or a customers, it's getting all four for sure.
