e39 Headlight Opening

Opening headlight after baking it in the oven for 10 minutes at 200 degrees. Note that this can only be done on 2001 and 2002 headlights.

Hello how did you do that how I opened the lens cap? I tried with a 2000W hot air gun and it didn't work I'm so sad I want to change these pieces

You did not tell people that there is a screw at the edge of the turn signal side.. Someone is gonna break it open..

I wish my lens would come out so easily! Mine has sticky seal that is super difficult to get this apart. I will try a heat gun. Thanks for the tip.

So, the lenses are just that easy to remove with a screwdriver? No glue? I have to replace just the lenses (or clean/polish them). Thanks!

Not going to mention or show the epoxy they used to seal the lights. This videos shows him taking aftermarket ones off.

No these are factory lights. Ones produced before mid-2002 have bakeable sealant, not the permanent type

butil tape, same for door carts. But buy oem butily tape from bmw, others suck dick.

European specs from 2000 to 2003 can't be open. Are epoxi glue.

@@grete6100 yes It is. You need cut It if u wan to open it. Actually it's not epoxy is polyuretane glue like windshield

+Cynthia Mendez Hella changed the type of adhesive used on the lens. the newer lights are effectively glued shut instead of sealed with butyl rubber like the older ones.

I have a 2003 bmw 540 i was baking my headlight in 300 c and I couldn't Separate front glass they was Using Different Glue or silicone on this . I almost melted my headlight in the oven lol
