Regarding the nomenclature of the sciatic nerve position relative to the piriformis muscle… “In front” refers to when the sciatic nerve is usually ANTERIOR to the piriformis (toward the front of the body) and “behind” refers to when the sciatic nerve is POSTERIOR to the piriformis muscle (toward the back of the body). I understand how the wording in the video can be confusing as the images shown are posterior views. Thank you so much for watching! So is the woman (whose name I don’t know)! There was a video recently with lots of RDL variations and she was demonstrating. Her form was top notch for me to emulate 👏🏻

After many years of right side sciatic pain, I finally found that a pigeon stretch fully stopped the pain! I don't know why it works but it does for me. I still do it a few times a week for maintenance.

I've been going through this for years since spine surgery & got worse when they stretched my spine recently in PT. So now Pain Mgmt. has started with injections. The first one at level L5S1 Did not help! (disc removed in surgery) Now they tried a different area & still have pain down leg! I will DEFINITELY try those stretching exercises you advise! THANK-YOU!!!😊

I been through this issue and you hit the nail. I religiously did these exercises and stretches as assigned by my chiropractor and I also lil bit of extra workout like trying to run lil by little coz it would hurt a lot but within 3 to 5 months I was back to normal.

Walking helps (sitting makes it worse) and strengthening exercises like side planks also alleviate the symptom for me

I have unrelated question. How do you rehab just one side of your body? Like for example when you had surgery on one of your legs and your one leg is now weaker compare to the other one. Should you train weaker leg more? If so, how much more?

I’m a dancer and I work out. I’ve been dealing with pain like this for years. It’s gotten better with PT but it still bothers me. I do the exercises for stretch & strengthening. But nothing fully works. I’ve stopped dancing for 6 months and I came back and it was good for weeks and now it’s back to hurting. Any advice for someone who is naturally active for work but needs to fix it without surgery ?
