I’ve followed you for a while now and I though I subscribe to a few video channels I enjoy yours the most, I think it’s because we’re closer to the same age and I can relate more and you do more of a soft, low key type of video instead of those loud watch how good I am as I travel to a exotic location that I could never afford to go to and shoot with a 6,000 dollar camera that a sponsor gives me that I will never be able to afford type of video. Thanks for keeping it simple and fun.

Loved your ideas. One thing I greatly admire in Great Britain is the access you have to private property, here in the US almost all private property is posted to keep people out.

Brilliant video Craig - the biggest hurdle some times when thinking about shooting nearby is the inability to see the uniqueness of the scenery due to familiarity. It’s always good to look at scenes with no prejudices. Thanks for sharing your artistry and ingenuity.

Great video, I like the way you say "it's not a glamerous location" I also know where this is, I have spent many a lazy day sitting under the tree in location 2, you could be anywhere if the conditions are right, it's nice to see our local area shown like this.

Great one I've been trying to do more of this myself. I live within 10 minute walk to some outstanding views and a 10 minute drive in a couple of directions to many other views. With a 2 year old at home and work and life I don't get as much time to go out taking photos as I want so when I get some time to go I try and visit these local areas to practice and find good compositions. I also find taking pictures of my 2 year old is quite a great way to practice with movement and autofocus. He moves so much I think I could shoot any sporting event!

Great stuff, Craig! You did a fantastic job of making the most of your local landscape, and it really shows the power of revisiting a location over and over in different conditions, and how that can turn a mediocre scene into something special. I'm also looking for my local Michael Kenna tree here in NJ, USA. However, my area is a bit more built up, so it's likely I'd have to travel more like 30mins to find a similar open field or any lone trees. Our local parks are unfortunately not much to look at, and crammed with manmade stuff (dog playground, human playground, pull-up bars, baseball field, flagpoles, tennis courts, etc.), which makes trying to do landscape photography there a little daft. We do however have a pretty famous Iris garden, which is spectacular for about 2 weeks a year for Macro photography.

Great vlog post as always. One must say that From December to March, unless there are some extreme weather conditions like snow and frost, this is not the right season to shoot landscapes under our latitude especially on a drab day like this one. But I see your point.

Brilliant watch as usual. I was expecting a wee bald chap to be running in front of you for some reason during that first walk. I'm similar to you in that I have a local tree or two, sometimes lucky with local poppy fields and really lucky to have a lovely waterfall all withing 5 minutes drive. Your video has made me think that I am not visiting them anywhere near enough though so thanks for the inspiration and well done on another quality production.

Great - very inspirational. I am heading out on foot tomorrow. We had a competition category at my Camera Club last year that dictated that the photograph had to be taken within the confines of the market square in our town. It was quite surprising to find that the number of entries for this category was as high as for any other category, proving that photography can be done anywhere. More surprising was the variety of images form an area that is barely 100m x 100m. Enjoying the Vlogs

Well done, proves there is no excuse for not taking some sort of landscape. For my sins I live in Crewe, I have a tree I use often. Its opposite a housing estate and next to a busy road. But it is in a field, and on a bit of a slope, so no excuse. Another well informed vlog, and I loved the Benny Hill theme in the first journey.

Over the past three years I've become a huge believer in shooting local and while I don't have any place with in a 10 minute walk I do have about five different locations/areas within a 15-20 minute drive, one of which I visited over 26 times in 2017. Additionally I've found that by using clouds as a key element of my compositions that I'm able shoot the same or similar point of views but get very different result/images simply based on the shape and position of the clouds relative to the other elements in the scene.

Travellin would be wonderful, just impractical witha day job and british mountains , wilds and seascapes all a good two hours or more from the center of england. I have forests, farms, lakes, trails and everythink else. On my doorstep if only just look. Lesson learned.
