the early 360/p23 era was so weird for sports games. i just remember everyone complaining how striped down they were compared to the previous gen. and no one really talked about these games anymore as a result. it was not tilll early 2010 when sports games became popular again i feel.

I just played NBA Live 06 and it actually surprised me. It was better than I expected… it wasn’t good by no means and for me to have it actually playable I had to get the settings right and the camera. God that camera was bad. The gameplay isn’t fun and reminds me of a complete port of NBA Live 04 gameplay. The gameplay was not realistic but it was more arcade like and just fun mainly on the offense. Playing defense isn’t very effective and just weird for the most part. I also like the shoot around screen. I thought it was the best one low key, well I’d say right there with NBA Live 10 shoot around screen. I am going to keep playing NBA Live 06 honestly. Yeah the gameplay has some weird moments in game at times but it’s a fun experience. If only they would have worked with 06 as the foundation we could have had a great NBA live. It’s just sad to think that NBA Live 10 was possibly the best they had to offer.

Lol. I see. EA tried to take best practices from VC, but didn't have the system to support it. The same business practices are in effect today with Madden and Take2 Interactive. This video clearly demonstrates bad decisions, and the eventual need for micro transactions and packs.

Had NBA Live 06 on the GameCube and to this day still play NBA Live 05 on the Wii in GameCube mode. Never asked for a new console to get NBA Live 07 and good thing too! They tried way too hard in upgrading the appearances of the players, the basketball courts looked darker, the dunk contest looked horrible, and like Kofie said they just made the game controls harder. Overall this was a game where they just tried way too hard to make it better!
