I agree. If they lost the games close you could MAYBE make an argument, but those losses were brutal blowouts. I just can’t see a world where they get in especially when the committee takes into account the “eye-test” which they will fail. The reason I bring up the eye test is because just solely looking at a team with two losses doesn’t seem too bad, but the margin of loss against Bama and TAMU is too much to overcome

Great point about army. Teams that just miss out on the playoffs shouldn’t complain, it used to be 4 teams, and before that only 2. So be lucky u were in the running. The new playoff is for teams like undefeated army that beats a team like ND

Alabama definitely deserves to be pushed up a tier in my opinion; I'm just not convinced at all that the committee will punish CCG losses, especially after TCU didn't drop after losing to KState in 2022 I think they view the P4 championships as essentially just being tiebreakers for who gets the byes, basically turning it into a double elimination tournament for them

if south carolina has a prayer of making the cfp, then clemson also has a shot even if they don't make the ACC championship game. Since they're ranked above sc right now, they would benefit from the exact same chaos as south carolina. Plus they would also have to win out, and would have to blow out south carolina in their last game. Even then I still think the committee puts a 3-loss sec team above them, but it's possible

Meh, that loss can be chalked up to Ewers having played horribly the month after his injury. The only close game Texas has played was versus Arkansas, the Vanderbilt win wasn't really close at all if you actually watched the game

Oregon had to play 8 weeks in a row without a bye, including the Ohio State game, traveling back and forth between the Midwest and Autzen. Wisconsin was the last game of that slate, and was a textbook trap game

Now I may be wrong, but if army would beat notre dame and win out they would pass up the big 12 and make the playoffs as the 12th seed since it’s the highest five champions. If the big twelve canibalizes itself pac 12 style, Tulane could get in if they win out. Very interesting year for college football

UGA fan here. I really worry that if UGA loses the SEC championship, they are simply out. Don’t get me wrong, I think that would be really unfair given our SOS and the fact it’s like a disincentive for any team to go to the conference championship. But from a selection standpoint, UGA would be a 3 loss team while others with easier schedules are only 1 loss.

If Iowa State wins out, ASU beats BYU, and Kansas beats Colorado then they're in. If ASU, ISU, BYU, and CU are all 7-2 in conference play Iowa State is in.

Nobody in College Football had to play 8 straight conference games other than Oregon - playing in a charged Wisconsin environment when everyone plays harder against the #1 team - after the hardest travel/play schedule in the country (not the toughest strength of schedule)- while having school for all that time - you could see they were just gassed. If they come out and throw a stinker to UW then we’d have something to talk about - but I believe that they will crush them - and prove this was an outlier and not a symptom

Awesome video, but I have 2 points of mention. First is where you said Clemson having their last 2 games as OOC is weird ACC scheduling. The ACC allows for their schools to schedule OOC games for whatever weeks they want, then fills in the 8 conference games later. Clemson always plays USCjr on Rivalry Week. Always an OOC game (since the 70s). Citadel was scheduled years back, and takes place in Nov bc our 2nd to last home game is always Military Appreciation, and it just makes sense to play Citadel for that game. Their last two games not being ACC games has nothing to do with the ACC Schedule itself. Separately, super biased here, but if Clemson wins their last two, and some teams ranked 8-16 lose one of their next two games; they could squeak in as an 11 or 12 seed. That would fall under the "pray" category but still not out of the question, lol Second, ASU absolutely controls their own destiny. Since they play BYU this week; if they win, they have the tiebreaker over BYU at 2 conference losses. Also, i assume it was a flub, saying BYU needs to beat Houston next week. BYU wining would only hurt ASU; but win or lose, if ASU wins their last two, they're in regardless of BYU's results next week.

Thanks for informing me on that Clemson point! Never really noticed that before. As for ASU, it is extremely weird but I think this is correct. Assuming ASU and ISU win out, if BYU beats Houston, ASU would still be above them on tiebreaker. But if Houston beats BYU, then Iowa State would jump ASU on the conference opponent win percentage tie breaker.

The thing is that at least one of Ole miss, Tennessee, Georgia, Alabama, and Texas is most likely being left out even if every team wins out. Odds are, it will be either Ole miss or Tennessee. Whoever looks more dominant will get in.
