I have always enjoyed the fact that this song is a self fulfilling prophecy. By listenting to it for the first time, you are actually living the message in the song. Even if a person were to not like it, they still would have lived the message of the song by "spiraling out" and giving it a shot. Not many songs can deliver a message and indirectly force you to live that same message while telling you about it. Kinda cool.

"Aenima" isn't really about how much L.A. sucks. It's just a metaphor. Even the lyrics of the song say "try to read between the lines". The song is about how we are all going too far on our planet and how we waste our lives and potentials chasing after trivial, silly and meaningless things and how we should all change and step back before mother nature does it on our behalf.

lyrics are incredibly important for a LOT of Tool fans, but I think you could catch most of them in this song because the mix is so good. I can't help but feel like you should keep a lyrics page up only so you can reference parts you don't catch. Also gives you a reason to pause(since I know you HAVE to for the rules on copyright or whatever) in order to go back and read what you just experienced. my 2 cents.

The most profound lyrics of this track... "Swing on the spiral of our divinity and still be a human" We all embody a small piece of the divine, our eternal soul which connects to all others within the collective subconscious, which is our connection to the divine, which speaks to us through intuition and our dreams. If we could only stop overthinking, overanalyzing because it only serves to disconnect us from that which wants us to spiral out and expand our horizons, anchoring us to this mundane existance without a sense of spirit to guide us. Its the ongoing internal war of Ego vs. Intuition Weve always been spiritual beings housed in a physical shell, but somewhere along the line weve lost touch with that. I highly recommend Pneuma from their newest album, or the Parabol/Parabola video from this album. 🤘 Keep going down this rabbithole my friend, on the wing of will and whim you may just go where no one's been.

The beginning of the song follows a neat structure called the fibonacci sequence. The sequence takes the last 2 numbers and adds them to create the next number, which then you plot on a graph where it will create a perfect spiral. The number of syllables in each line and the previous add up to the next line. Black - 1 And - 1 White are -2 All i see - 3 In my infancy - 5 Red and yellow then came to be - 8 This album is my favorite from Tool because of the way they really carefully constructed every song. Glad to see someone following the same journey I took decades ago.

I love the fact that Tool fans drop the spiral comments typically well before people make it to this song in their journey. Suddenly all those comments that had appeared kind of random, take on their actual meaning. This song is all about embracing experiences that can seem strange, in order to expand your perspectives, and it does exactly what it says. And if you can embrace the beauty, then everything falls into place.

I've found that most folks who love Tool just wanna spread that good feeling around. It feels great and we want others to feel great, too. Happy for you, Xanny! Tool only releases an average of about 1 album every 5 years, so it's always top tier stuff. Each band member really pushes and perfects their contribution before they weave it all together. Overall the band is pretty esoteric and there's a lot of lore, though not all of it's true/accurate. To be fair, Tool also attracts their fair share of conspiracy-lovers (of course, there's plenty of real conspiracy in the world, so I can't throw any shade). With your experience seeking out quality music, I'm curious what some of your top recommendations are, especially in your favorite genres.
