it's the year 2020. and this type of mixing is more topical than ever. and it shows how exhausting such a performance is. it's hard work. introduce yourself. four hours? this work? it is brilliant. but hard work. it is the style of fast changing many elements. dj's like james hype clear everything. incredibly good job. it shows how demanding our society is today to perform I don't want to dare to call myself dj anymore either. when i see this work. just fantastic.

I thought before that this kind of setup is cheating because you have to sync all tracks but it's not about beatmatching with this setup, it's about blending different elements of other tracks and kinda making a remix on the fly. This made me realize that this is more fun than just transitioning one track to another because you are more hands on with this setup compared to two decks only your going to have to play with fx everytime the buildup starts in order for people to see you doing something. Maybe someday I'll switch to this kind of setup 😁

Great mix mate, those tracks are sounding great together and your effects control is awesome. Focus on counting out the phrases now....16 bar / 32 bar sections you know. It will improve the flow of the arrangement and make a mix more satisfying to the audience. Symmetry is key man. Peace!

love to know how you combine or mix a 116 song ( get lucky) with a background at 128 bpm or another at 125 bpm. Or are that just the bpms of the song and not the velocity at which they are played?
@nickylem39 жыл бұрын
claramb2 he most likely just synced them all to 125
@chainsawkarate9 жыл бұрын
PantherKunt that's the only thing i don't understand about ean's mixing style and the equipment he uses. how does he adjust bom. doesn't seem like the traktor controllers he's using have bpm control. sync button?
@nickylem39 жыл бұрын
Yupp exactly. I guess he cares more for the structure of the set
@KarlsbergHeroes9 жыл бұрын
+John McCullough the X1s have sync buttons :)
@variancewithin7 жыл бұрын
125 bpm is about what he was at. if you look at 2:54, he has a song at 128 but it's going 2.3% slower than normal. you don't have to have your songs at exactly the same bpm. in the right context, you can stretch a song pretty far both ways and make it sound good. But then again, it's all in context.

Do you prefer to dj with an external mixer like in this video or with a controller ? I'm don't know which way to go. I feel like getting controller like the S4 mk3 or the traktor s8 would be way cheaper, but then again I wonder if the external mixer is the better way to go.
@denzeladams35003 жыл бұрын
At the end of the day, they're all just tools. You'll be fine either way. You can do this using either set of gear, the difference is always going to be talent.
