When Jackie Robinson was voted to Baseball’s Hall of Fame, it wasn’t even an unanimous vote because there were some writers who were still resentful of Jackie breaking the color barrier.
@dolce83333 ай бұрын
wow man thank you for this
@jefflewis43 ай бұрын
Nonsense, the first unanimous hall of fame vote did not even occur until 2019. It was quite normal at the time of Robinsons Hof election to not have a unanimous vote.

Mariano Rivera is the only unanimous HoF vote
@RealCGH3 ай бұрын
@jimboscooter432 which is weird when you think about cause let's be honest, Rivera absolutely deserved it but a Reliever being the first one to achieve this goal is ridiculous
@jefflewis43 ай бұрын
@@RealCGH Rivera's unanimous vote coincides with the writers ballots being made public. He likely would not have been unanimous were it not for that.

Look at Jackie Robinson 2 weeks before he died at the age of 53 and how old he looked. That should tell you how badly he was treated

One thing that is sad is that Jackie is never given his full credit! He wasn’t just the first black man to break the color barrier, he was an amazing player and he’s NEVER given that due. He stole so many bases and was one of the best 2B ever.

I would like to add that a non-white player did play for Cleveland and his name was Louis Sockalexis. He is the reason they became the Cleveland Indians because he was an American Indian and the best player on the team. That was back in the 1910s.

The first modern Olympic games were held in Athens in 1896, a quarter century after the Pythian club of Philadelphia existed, so, no, they never played, nor attempted to play in the Olympics (which wouldn't even have baseball until many years later). What you meant to say was that the Pythians played against the Olympic Club of Philadelphia, which was the first time a black team played against a recognized white team.
