Your tutorial is very awesome. I am waiting for California to start scheduling written tests. I am starting with court reporting in January and as soon as court interpreter apportionment start I will schedule myself. I am also taking law in college to get more familiar with the whole language. I thank you again.

Is interpreting really going to be used in the future? With AI available? I am very interested but worried after all the effort that it may not even be useful if they can get AI to interpret instead of a person.

Is there a age limit you suggest not to start?
@TexanTranslation2 жыл бұрын
No, age is much less important than motivation and effort. But be aware that this is an intense mental activity that relies on short and long-term memory, so the health of your brain is a factor.

Great video!….I’m a newbie as an Interpreter. Q: I m an independent contractor, an agency want me to sign a contract that includes No Solicitation under “No Conflict of Interest Covenants “ , …….Does this mean we can not accept other contracts from different agencies? How is this work? Do all interpretation agencies require independent contractors or freelancer to sign the contract like this? I don’t think I can live on the EVENTUAL assignment from one agency if sign the contract. Please advise….Thank you very much.
@TexanTranslation2 жыл бұрын
Thanks! No, you don't have to commit to only work for one agency. If they put that in a contract, run away! But it is common for them to ask you not to solicit their clients directly. Meaning, they send you to interpret at a certain office and you whisper on your way out, "Call me directly next time and I'll work cheaper." That's unethical.

Thanks for the vid, can you tell me what I can expect to make yearly? Thanks!
@TexanTranslation5 жыл бұрын
You're welcome. It depends on a lot of variables: which language(s) you work in, where you live, whether you're staff or freelance, how aggesively you market, whether you offer related language services like transcription-translation, and how long you've been doing it. I would guess the average, full-time, freelance, Spanish, master licensed court interpreter is making $60,000 a year.
