See , I imagined in the style of Studio Ghibli or Ponoc because they’re the only company I know of that can pull off the “moment of silence and tranquility” that Jirard talks about in the video. A Saturday morning cartoon style might work in the action scenes but those parts where it slows down and it’s peaceful, IDK of anyone else that could do it. Maybe it needs a halfway point between both (or if a live action version would be made, a director that could pull off both sides).

"...Earthbound strikes a perfect balance of being emotional and funny. There's no cynicism anywhere, and I love the game's earnestness." You have just encapsulated exactly what I love about Earthbound's tone. It has a weird and wonderful sense of humor, genuine moments of dread, and a complete emotional sincerity that I've seen so rarely in modern media. In a cultural landscape dominated by the irreverent weight of Irony, Earthbound is a breath of fresh air. I think the perfect example of this comes from the butterflies. When you catch them, they heal psychic points. But they do so by setting the mind of the characters at ease, which is important for psionics. Taken together, though, it creates a scene that is fascinating for what it means. Ness is reinvigorating his mental state by dropping whatever he's doing - even if it was completely Serious Business - and doing one of the most Kid things you can do: _chase a butterfly_ . That, right there, is mind-expanding. It is sublime. It is...so perfectly Earthbound.

But then i soon realized, In the beginning you get a chance to put you, The players name on there, And me being an idiot (Thinking i was never actually going to get invested in the game) Typed out that explicit statement as my name lol. Gotta admit, This game blew me away, Only ever played it a couple years ago and im already incredibly nostalgic for it. Sooo many crazy moments, The final battle against Gygas was by far the most memorable part for me, As i would use everything at my disposal trying to beat him for hours, Until finally as a last resort I decided to Pray, As sometimes Praying could restore health or do some attack damage, I actually didnt have much faith in the moment, But then that turned out to be the answer, It was such a cool moment, As i thought i tried everything and simply wasnt prepared or leveled up enough, When really simply praying was the answer. One of if not my favorite final boss of all time. The whole thought of fighting something so far beyond your understanding that you cant even begin to grasp its attacks, Its equally eerie and incredible. Love this game.

I always tell people Earthbound isn't really a game, it's an experience
@IwanMilner Жыл бұрын
This game came before Undertale, and I just need to play it someday before playing it just because I heard it's a cult classic and after watching this I'm sold and I need to play Earthbound! (I NEED IIIIITTTTT!)

I think the most authentic experience is getting a Super Nintendo and picking up a reproduction cartridge of EarthBound. That's how I played it, and honestly it feels like the game is a part of me. I love it.

The original Earthbound video was the first time I watched The Completionist. It had just come out on the Wii U, and I always loved Ness in Smash. I then learned about Beard Bros and watched Mother 3. I love TOVG and I’m so thankful Earthbound brought me to view your content. Btw, Jirard, that free concert in Vegas is still an option if you remember me from FB messanger.

It's really awesome that this game that was once hard to get a hold of is now offered in many different forms. Especially now since it was brought to the Switch's SNES NSO service.

For anyone wondering, the new games on New Game+ are Final Fantasy Tactics, TriForce Heroes and Asagao Academy. Hoping the originals get archived for Jirards hard work on them and excellent episode, here's to one of the best content creators out there!

When a local video game store closed back in the 90's, I was able to not only get the cart, but the guide book. On of my family's all time favorite game.

"thats actually a thing?! A 1/128 challenge? What??" Me: laughs and cries in shiny hunter
@GmodPlusWoW5 жыл бұрын
I imagine that the 1/128 challenge would be easier if you had a certain charming young boy from Arizona on-side as a lucky charm. After all, IIRC he got the Sword of Kings pretty quickly in his Let's RePlay of the game, due to his unnatural Luck stat. Also, my headcanon is that Jeff sounds English. Possibly with a northern accent, since I also read Doctor Andonuts' lines in the voice of the late Peter Sallis, aka Wallace from Wallace & Gromit.

Fun facts about Earthbound. If u get enough cookies to fill up your inventory before u fight the first starman. When u get sound stone u won't have it use up space in your inventory but it still records the melodies. If u use the d pad during teleport A use u can control your path. If u wanna do the rock candy glitch u can put rock candy last in your inventory buy sugar packets and during battle use the rock candy and it only uses the sugar packets not the rock candy and when u level up you'll gain mass amounts of HP and PP. Never go over 250 a stat or it resets. U can kill giygas without praying.

PK (Psychokinesis) is about the movement of energy, PSI (Psionic) is a more general term for all forms of psychic energy, including PK. It's why in Mother 3 you have PK Ground and PK Love, but PSI Magnet and PSI Counter. I believe when localizing EarthBound they thought that PSI would be a simpler term to understand and changed all instances of PK to PSI. Both PSI and PK work to describe the abilities, but PK is more accurate and specific when it comes to the offensive abilities.
