I would say there are only two truly impressive visual leaps generation to generation: NES to SNES/Genesis and N64/Playstation/Saturn to PS2/Gamecube/Xbox. SNES/Genesis to N64/Playstation/Saturn is...generally, kind of a downgrade, visually. 3D being pulled off at all was impressive, sure, but there's a reason the games that hold up best visually released for the first 3D capable generation of consoles are Symphony of the Night and Mega Man X, and I'm honestly surprised 3D wasn't more of an outlier until the PS2 era.

The recharge station in south Branistar makes no sense. When you use the boots at the pink area and fall down, the ostrich teaching you the boost jump which hurts you when you hit something. Why have a recharge for full health if you have to get hurt just to get out of the area? Learning to wall jump the first time is really annoying. Once you understand the exact timing to push the buttons, then it is not so bad. Game is still great, but not as good as people remember it.
@jacobmonks37225 жыл бұрын
@@laurenriley2943 As for wall jumps, yes, they can be a bit finnicky. But it is easily forgiven because at no point in the game are they mandatory to use, unless you get stuck in that one hole. Also, it is pretty easy to do after some practice.

The recharge station is actually good game design. It's there so that if you're out of energy, you're not stuck in there for all eternity because the shinespark needs energy to work. I just finished this game for the first time yesterday and coming from the perspective of someone who doesn't play this style of game very often, I can't say it really made as huge of an impression on me. I don't think it was bad by any means. I just felt like there are some clunky aspects to the jumping that I just couldn't ever get used to. That, the even more clunky grappling, and the cryptic world design of how crucial traversal points were hidden made it more frustrating to finish than satisfying to the end. I just didn't find it that appealing to feel the need to compulsively fire all weapon types at every type of surface for basic progression. The look of the game was great and it definitely had some great moments but I can't put this anywhere near the greatest games of all time. But hey, like they say, opinions are like assholes, everyone's got one and not everyone waxes their asshole.

I never played this game on the original SNES when I was a kid. I bought the Classic because I loved the console so much. After playing this game for the first time ever, it is now my third favorite game ever made. I then did the daunting task of beating the game in under 3 hours to get the best ending. I succeeded. Now with the confidence knowing that I can do that again in the future whenever I want to, it's time for me to 100% this baby! Jirard! Give me strength! Let the power flow from your beard to mine!

Thanks Jirard for doing this! I fell in love with this game when I tried it first time two months ago when I bought a mini SNES classic and it's there. Now I've completed this masterpiece five times and it belongs to my all time favourite video games list.

My one nitpick for this game is the map, specifically when it comes to displaying both non-collected and collected items a simple square dot isn't enough

If you still new ways to play the game, there are plenty of ROM hacks out there that can give you new ways to play the game, or even give you a completely new game to play.

This game is the *epitome* of optimization for your console and passion in game developement (The team that worked on it at Nintendo spent so much time and effort on it that some of them lived there and the place got so bad it garnered the nickname "The Zoo")😋 and that dedication is felt in every second... Even 20+ years later. Super Metroid, in all aspects, is one of the *greatest* examples of game design that I could ever give such praise and admiration to. Thank you *Deer Force!!* *DEER FORCE!!* lol anybody that gets this... I'll see you next mission!😘

They're both great games though Super Metroid did it first and in a lot of ways did it better. I loved the story to Fusion a lot better. I think if they ever did a movie, that would be the most interesting.

@@shadowproductions969 Metroid Fusion controls better than Super, firing missiles in SM is annoying (having to press select to change weapons...) and grabbing ledges is a most. Again, only my opinion.

This is my pick for best game on the SNES, and also best Metroid. I finished it with my best friend in high school, over the course of 3 or 4 weekends worth of sleepovers. 29 hours and change... and we got a 98%. So we played it again. And again. And again. Until we got the 3 hour ending with 100%. I think this might be the first game I ever completed.
