I love liver and onions. Have loved it since I was a child. We cook our liver dredged in seasoned flour for only a minute on each side. Then we set it aside, cook our onions, putting them both together and then we make a mushroom gravy and pour it over the top. I especially love this recipe for breakfast. I know, sounds weird but liver and fried eggs go great together. Will try your recipe because it sounds wonderful to me. Never thought of lemon on liver but I am sure it goes beautifully as combined flavors. Thanks for sharing.

When you turn your liver over and back again you run the risk of having tough liver. 3 to 5 minutes on each side usually medium fire depending on the thickness is adequate. Too many flips or turns can make your liver like shoe leather. Happy Eating😛

Thanks for sharing. I finally broke down and made me some liver. It was ok. LoL, believe me, that is a great compliment...I am working with horrific memories of eating liver as a child. What the heck did my parents do to it??? But this was perfectly fine. I just pretended it was just like eating any old muscle (why shouldn't that be just as gross? I was a vegetarian for 2 years in the 90s when it was cool (until my body told me it couldn't handle that), also it mostly for economical reasons to tell the truth. And this liver cost me like 3 bucks, and thats for 4 'steaks'. I spent more on avocados today 😉 Anyway, thanks again, nice video, helpful. And you have a nice voice to listen to 😊

This is the first time I ever saw cooing straight liver, (not coated with flour )' and nice to see tongs used to lift meat, as opposed to use Nguyen forks or pronged utensils that puncture the meat. @tommydimmel19147 жыл бұрын
Michael Foulkes grass fed is BY FAR the best, as the liver eliminates all of the body's toxins, so a natural cow is going to be far better for you. Also, didn't know if you knew this tip (although you are using lemon juice), but one should always take some vitamin C (I usually eat a grapefruit) with the liver, as it works synergistically with the incredible source of heme-iron that grass-fed beef liver provides! Thanks again for the vid and for the tip! I live in the Midwest near farms, so I'm very lucky to be waking distance from my local farmers market where they carry grass finished beef of all cuts.

What does soaking in milk do?
@pam53894 жыл бұрын
@@Diana-pm5ii Hi. I was taught that it helps to take the bitter taste out that most people don't like about liver and I think it helps tenderize it also. I prefer soaking it in milk then not soaking. I never liked liver very much until trying this now I really like it and enjoy the health benefits also. It doesn't need to be cooked long either but by soaking it I find if I forget and cook it well done it is still very tender and can cut it with a fork. I cook mine in bacon grease which gives it a extra delicious flavor. I use heavy cream to soak it in because it has less carbs than milk and I don't use any flour. Hope this helps you 🙂
