I've got 40 + years of construction experience, and am a certified crane operator besides being a pilot, involved in many different types of projects, and YOU ARE CORRECT SIR! Mike is the best! A interview of the concrete contractor Mike used would be hilarious. As would a clip with the local county building inspector. For those with no construction experience, there is not much anything more intense on a job site then an unusual pour, with an equally unusual method of bracing, a "blowout", in aviation terms, is like a micro burst down draft. You're screwed, game over, it's to be avoided at all cost! Viewing this remotely, weeks later, my pulse rate still went up.

The tricky part is you have to trust others to do things exactly like you told them to do it. Being intimitly involved is sometimes as close as you can get to doing everything yourself. Remember, Mike is simultaneously building entirely different things.

Hello from Sydney Australia. Thank you for the critical stage inspection and explanation of the concrete forms and reinforcement. I was always reminded to ensure full bar length cross overs at T and corner intersections. Also consistent MPa and slump (delivery dockets). Ingenious idea the pipe skimmer drains: I am wondering about the pool edge finish level and capping the skimmer drains? 🏊🇭🇲

Beautiful job as always! I designed and build my own home in the 1980"s and then hand built and 45x13 foot pool with 8ft deep and 4ft shallow end. I designed a system to treat the water that seldom needed any bleach treatment by using a Ozone injection system. It could produce over 10 times the output of any other product then built for installing on and inground pool and didnt cost that much to build. I should have started to produce it but other personal problems came up thata kept me from doing that. It was nice to have the clean water with no eye problems.

Great idea. How will you be dealing with the noise these will make? You will get two types of noise. The suction will make a noise and the turbulence of the bubbles will make the pipes noisy. In the reef tank community they pot ball valves on them and adjust them so they slow down the water and keep the pipe filled. But leaves will clog those regularly so you will need some auto valves that can open and close to clear the lines periodically.

Mike, I loved your comments about “going the extra mile”. I’m not rich, but I don’t build stuff based on cost alone. My garage sits on 32” footing walls, with the floor poured afterwards, and keyed in around the perimeter, with rebar projecting out and tied to the grid in the floor. I guess it was overkill, but it didn’t cost much more, and after almost thirty years in Northern Alberta, there is a single hairline crack running from the corner to the sump out in the centre. Someone said to just pour a 4” pad with mesh in it. That would have been a waste of time with two levels and attic storage on top of it. Corner cutting is for commercial guys with no conscience or common sense.
