Shane Trainor - The Plexi Drive Deluxe is specifically voiced to sound like classic Marshalls. The Palisades is strictly Tube Screamer-esque, a sound and pedal originally built to goose an amp like a Marshall. Therefore they are markedly different but complementary beasts and any board would benefit from housing both.

Best tube screamer out there. I never thought I’d buy one. Earthquaker said they’d never make one. They did and I bought. 401 options. It sounds great. I’m a bit late Burgs. Always great demo. You’ve cost me quite a bit of money. I think I’m finally under control. After years of #gas. I even have the great piggie fx distortion. But I only bought good gear after I felt I deserved it. If a guitarist can’t play. Lessons and practice first. For years.

Thanks for the review - really made me think about trying this pedal......I especially like the fact, that you switch back to the clean tone, I had reviews were some guys mumble "clean tone", hit an e-major 2 times and then go berserk for 5 minutes.

I've got a Palisades. Its simply the best piece of gear I own. I use it to drive an old Marshall for fatter lead tones. Haven't been able to get a bad sound out of it yet.

Through my 65 reissue it didn't sound great. But when I went through my 64 Bassman Head OMG!!! the buffer and bright really shines in the back half of the bandwidth.

Is there a significant volume bump when go from gain a to gain b?

Simple unity gain trick: use a db meter or app. Easy and works well.

Question. Gain A and B; able to use separate? Or no? Also, boost separate or only with both a & b

The most recent reissue, the Squier Vintage Modified 51 is $179 USD on Musician's Friend. Same as the old ones. With the way the economy has gone in the past years, it's still a damn bargain...

Rhop Yep. I guess I must have been thinking of the recent pawn shop editions or whatever they were called. I wonder if the latest versions are as good as this old one? Maybe I'll just have to buy one to find out. Cheers, B.
