I am also watching this four years after your posting! And even though I’ve been knitting socks for over 15 years I’m learning new things from you every time I watch you! I love your enthusiasm and joy!

I chuckled at the "sticks + string = clothing = mind blown" comment. Everything I've created so far (all 2 scarves, 1 hat) I just keep staring at thinking "That's a real thing in the real world that wouldn't exist if I hadn't jiggled some sticks and string for a few hours!" So glad it's not just me 😊 Thanks so much for the amazing content. I'm really enjoying working my first sock ever, thanks to this fantastic series ❤ Dear impatient people, Please don't leave crappy comments about presenting style being too fast/slow, for you. KZbin provides us all with speed control in video settings. Speed up, slow down, skip anywhere in the timeline, restart, play as many times as you like for free... Don't spread hate. Navigate.

Oh, dear lady... I've learned more from this FREE course in however many minutes it's been (classes 1 and 2) than I have in over 2 years without it. Your "jibber jabber" is solid gold. was going to say the same thing - sometimes you want to skip fwd to the meaty bits and then go back later for the chat - we all know when we get excited about something we want to jump in without delay but honestly complaining about someone's style? If you aren't happy then try and do it yourself and how hard it is. Build a bridge and get over it.

You possible won't read this Denise as I've only just found your platform and its July 2023!! But thank you so much. I'm finding your explanations and teaching fantastic as I work on my first pair of socks and I'm 73!! I've never been able to follow a sock pattern before SO confusing!! But you are so patient and clear and I'm learned all sorts of things from you including how to do Long Tail Cast On. I am also fighting with cable needles too as using double ended ones looked even more complicated but you virtual hand holding is superb and its free. Thank you. I do hope to finish these! I have bought the pattern plus another of your patterns too.

I appreciate your measured, calm tone! I have been in a class for beginners, where the teacher paced herself based on the fastest person in the class. And those were not the beginners! Additionally, going ahead when you do not have a method to determine where everyone is in the process can be extremely frustrating for those that need to go back and check directions/demonstrations. You are so kindly providing this instruction to anyone; I think people need to use caution in being critical. As a former educator, it is important to recognize everyone does not learn at the same rate. And, as you said, they could look for other directions if they are entering this learning experience as a race. Thank you 😊

Because I am slow at knitting socks, I like the slower pace, which gives me time to comprehend what is actually being taught, and a chance to put the technique into practice. I have never understood the math of dividing the stitches for the gusset and heel and then picking them back up. I definitely like the “shorty”, and the two circulars, which is my preferred method .

Hi Denise, please don't consider to spare any of your words. It's so enjoyable to listen to your explanations and I learn here a snippet and there a snippet and this is how I love classes. I feel really sad hearing about that comment. It is odd that the public sometimes feels like they run the show or can dictate how a podcast should be run so I am super happy that you feel confident enough to just do your thing. I love your podcasts and this tutorial, I am self taught and have really struggled with socks giving me huge sock knitting envy. All the 'jibber jabber' allows me to slow down and digest what you are saying instead of having to rewind and run the video a million times. So thank you so much for making sock knitting so accessible!

These videos are wonderful. No matter how much you plan out and pre-think any possible questions or issues, there will always be someone who asks you something out of the box--that is the nature of distance (asynchronous online) teaching (ask me how I know). It comes down to those learning (i.e. the students) not understanding this side to teaching and in this format. You are human. You are doing a wonderful job. Your time and work is appreciated. Thank you.

I first learned how to knit in 9th grade home Ec. but we were only taught how to knit and purl. That was many many years ago and I'll be 60 in Feb. so I wanted a hobby and started learning also on cable needles, never knew they existed and I like the fact my stitches don't fall as easy. I enjoy learning all the different ways there is to knitting. I have a huge bag of yarns which I have no idea what sizes they are and still haven't knitted my first project I just keep practicing and now I've almost made a short sock!!

I for one am not one to watch a tutorial and enjoy the ‘chatting’ at the beginning/end. However, you have such a friendly and inviting disposition and, treating these videos for what they are (a class, not a quick how-to that you have to watch 10 times to understand) I am thoroughly enjoying sitting back in a quiet time and engaging with you and your ‘jibber-jabber’ (as that commenter so lovingly put it). These videos have been so therapeutic to follow along with and as someone who has NEVER knitted anything in my life I’ve still been able to follow along and get a pretty good cuff! You do you, clearly the majority people are loving this series!! And who cares about the minority, they can take their negativity to another persons sock tutorial lol

Loving this class. I've made socks unsuccessfully in the past and this really helps. I like the idea of the Princess Sole, where the purl stitches are on the outside and the knit inside for a softer feel against your sole. I might try that with this sock.

Thanks, Denise! I hope your scratchy throat feels better! I’m so happy you choose the format you did- and you are not jibber jabbering- you are explaining! And doing a awesomesauce job of it! I am finally finally finally knitting my first sock! 😊🧦🧶 ah
