This is one of my favorites by EWF. The " musicians" of today (2024), can only dream of being this talented !!!😮😮 This was back when you had to know how to sing, play an instrument and you truly understood that music was ART !!!❤❤❤❤

I can tell you that love Is too deep to be played on Down the line, you'd find Time would reveal who to count on I'm well inclined to use the lines That comes from the learning tree Let the seed that grows, and ages old Give us our destiny Baby, you know, I could pick you up Turn your life around If you fall in love with me I would build you up, never let you down If you fall in love with me If you're having second thoughts from the past I can cool you out I've been there before, right down to the core I can sing and shout I can't hold back what I feel I bring experience I'll be your rock when Gibraltar falls Baby, give me a cause Baby, you know, I could pick you up Turn your life around If you fall in love with me I would build you up, never let you down If you fall in love with me Baby, in love with me, find yourself a part of me Baby, in love with me, help yourself to all of me I've got your number and I wanna shout I dig you baby, come and check me out

@nycsongman97583 жыл бұрын
Then and now (and before), getting airplay was/ is a constant, bare-knuckled, and bloody fight. It was around this time that, as I understand it, Columbia (EW&F's long-time label) was cutting back on "independent", boots-on-the-ground, promotion, to which Maurice reportedly protested, saying, rightfully, that *"this is my one and only career !"* Music was also changing (again) at that point; overnight, if that first single didn't hit big, the promo funds, even for known acts, started drying up. By this time, White had been on the road close to 20 years; he was a full-time, working studio owner, mega-band leader, a label owner (Deniece Williams, The Emotions), and was exhausted, and more than a little fed up. One final note: Let's face it, the ever-fickle public gets somewhat tired of a particular "sound"; it's happened to *all* of the greats. P.S.: Lol Read White's fine autobio, "Maurice White, My Life With Earth, Wind, and Fire", where he chronicles his trek from Memphis, to Chicago, to immortality.
