Easiest Screen Replacement A2179 Macbook Air 2020

I NEVER comment on KZbin videos but I am breaking my silence to comment here. I am a 54 year old woman who is not overly tech-savvy when it comes to computers but I AM overly frugal and not afraid of a challenge. I damaged my screen and had a replacement quote of $500 minimum. I had originally thought that I would just buy a new laptop but knew that I would have to go used Apple or away from Apple altogether which would mean learning a new system - something I wasn't excited about doing. Instead I sourced a used screen on eBay from a reputable seller after watching this video and believing that I could attempt this. I gathered my tools and did it! I was very meticulous about labeling my screws as I removed them. My biggest challenge was putting the tiny screws back in (my hands shake a bit). THANK YOU for doing such a great job walking your viewers through this repair. My new (used) screen works perfectly as far as I can tell - camera works, wifi, everything. Saved about $350.

Worked great. Took me about 45 minutes as I would watch each step and then do the step. Used little bowls for each set of screws from each step to keep them organized. Thank you.

I used this video for a quick teardown. Ever since sending mine to be fixed by applecare sometimes the screen didn't work. Opened it up to look for loose connectors, but found the mobo screws were just bouncing around loose in the case 😮

Great and clear video, however, now that I have replaced the screen in my damaged Mac, it will not turn on at all? No signs of life? No power on chime, no spinning fans? I am a computer tech, though I generally don't work on Macs, so I was very careful....any ideas what might be going on...?

Check the battery cable. Making sure it’s all the way inserted and the clipper locks it down. Also use adapter to power up for the first time after disconnecting the battery .

I did everything in the video but for some reason my screen shows up then blacks out. I can close the it and then open it back up and it’ll black back out in a couple of seconds. Anyone know anything about this?

@@Jacob-wz7jf Turned out to be a "display chip". Had it fixed at a local 'non apple' repair shop - as the cost of official apple repairs (in the UK) are actually criminal. Other common issues seem to be a backlight fuse and capicitor - but all require soldering.

Excellent Thorough Video BUT didn’t work for me… Apple said the issue was the display and was $458 to fix… after seeing this video I felt empowered to replace it myself. Welp unsure if I have a defective screen replacement but there was no sign of life after replacing the screen. Charged it and still wouldn’t turn on! 😢 Also, I purchased my 2020 Air new from Apple, but the 2 black screws were stripped when I went to remove. Feeling scammed now. I’ll definitely get Apple Care next time. Anyone else experience this?
