Question: Can I also add strawberries to this recipe and if so how would I adjust the sugar say if I wanted to add 2-3 cups of fresh strawberries?
@TheChickenCoopHomestead2 жыл бұрын
Yes I think you could add the strawberries but maybe try adding just a cup extra because it could get too thin and not set.

Thanks for the simple recipe video. Do you know of any diabetic friendly jam or jelly recipes?

Thank you! Unfortunately I’d do not have any dietary restricted recipes for jam or jelly. Maybe some of the subscribers might be able to help. Thanks for watching!

How long did you cook the figs before you added the jello? This is what I did- I used about 4 cups of water with lemon juice ( one book told me to) ( do I need that much?) Melted my 7 cups of sugar & water - set aside- Cleaned about 11 +\~cups of figs and 2 cups of strawberries 🤪and chopped into small pieces- boiled for 30 - to 40 minutes-( I got a phone call) Added 3 oz strawberry jello( all I had) - and a small box of sur gel- sounds crazy- but it taste very good! I processed 10 min. Rolling boil and they look great- I will go get more jello for the next batch - - I ended up with 20 half pints!!! - seems like maybe “not so much water” to start - idk- canning math is always different-

I just cooked it long enough to come to a boil and didn’t add any water. I cooked for 7 minutes after adding the jello. Oh well if it turned out good is all that matters! Thanks for watching! 👩🏼🌾💕🍓

I went in my grandmas basement about a month ago and found a jar of her strawberry fig jam from a couple years ago. Like finding GOLD

I am a beginner canner and I noticed you didn’t wipe the rim with vinegar before placing lid on ~ is that not necessary in canning figs
@TheChickenCoopHomestead3 жыл бұрын
Vinegar is just a preference. I might use with meat that is fatty etc but I keep my rims pretty clean with using the funnel. Thanks for watching!

Well we made the strawberry fig jam and it is the “BOMB”‼️ I just wiped the rims clean as your grandmother did ~ easy peasy. Thanks for the perfect video/tutorial. Couldn’t do it without it. Looks pretty and tastes delightful❣️
