I have a 2012 Accent bought new in 2011. I am retired so I don't drive it a lot. 90% of my driving is short trips but I take IT on the highway every couple weeks and run between 70-85 where possible for an hour or so. At 45,000 miles it has never used oil between changes. The valves have never caboned up. The reason is I have used full synthetic oil since new. I always use Top Tier gas.

The rotors you used are coated, so it's not necessary to use brake parts cleaner on them, but it also doesn't hurt. For the viewers, if you're not sure if the rotors are coated just spray then down just in case. The reason why you spray rotors with brake parts cleaner is because they normally have an oil on them to keep them from rusting during storage. Rotors with a coating do not have oil on them because, well they're coated.

Brother you forgot to take off the brake fluid cap when you pushed the piston back in. Otherwise great job 👍

What does this cause? I've done a ton of brake jobs and never done this and never seen an issue.
@JAlves88 Жыл бұрын
@bawstonfan12 not that big of a deal ur just pushing a lil dirty fluid back into the system, which prolly has dirty fluid in it already 😂

You don't really need the screws for holding the rotors in place.

When changing the rears do you not have to do anything with the handbrake cable? That's the only thing that's concerning me. Thanks.

is the rotor retention screw necessary , just had to drill mine off in back
@AutoMotivate2 жыл бұрын
It is not! Had to drill them out on another car and just left them out
@Iliek2 жыл бұрын
In my car there was only 1 of these screws in per rotor. They're just there to hold the rotor in place while you're installing the caliper and pad assembly. The lug nuts are what actually secure it. Though you'll have an easier time installing it correctly using the retaining screws.

Good video.Strong emphasis on safety set up before attempting job in hand 👍☝️☝️☝️👍Going to do my pads + rotors. Just waiting for parts and a new torque wrench to arrive. Local garage quoted me £342.50 to supply and fit discs and pads. Can do it myself ; half a days work under £150.

I did not know those cars burn oil no I have to watch it ! great job ty !

No problem friend! If the car has been slightly neglected, then they are prone to burning oil. These Korean cars are finicky, but reliable if you keep the fluids topped off. Glad I could help!

Chris Fix is an informative channel but I dislike his speech pattern so much I won't watch any of his videos any more. With that forced style of speaking much like announcers and news anchors use, it's like listening to someone trying to sell you something instead of trying to help you out. It's an intentionally hypnotic way of speaking and I'm certain that's a major reason why he has so many views and subs.
