You tried the Salomon Stance? Almost like the QST with metal, less freeride vibe. Thinking about getting the 84 to work on short turns and bumps. Sometimes it's good to go down to intermediate ski to work on the biomechanic, now that I'm working on the tiny nuances.

I suffered a horrendous concussion while skiing with a helmet on. I'm still not back to normal 9 months later but the first two were absolutely horrible. In short, make sure your helmet has a MIPS system in it. Ski slopes are always sloped at an angle to the skier so when you fall this induces a rotation component to the crash impact. It's the sudden rotation that is really bad for your brain. Regular helmets do not help with rotational impacts. If your helmet lacks MIPS it's absolutely worth it to buy one that does. A nasty concussion can ruin your ski season and even follow you for life.

I got a concussion in a bike accident even with MIPs. Always better safe than sorry!

Looks like an la nina year, so snow sucks in the southwest this year. El nino brought so much snow and rain last year. I'm glad I got to take advantage of it

I bought a pair of Atomic Maverick 95ti. I wanted to learn mount my own bindings to save a few bucks. I finally bought a kit, drills, tap, etc. Question … where did you mount your bindings? center, forward, back? What's the advantages of the different mounting positions? Thanks for your videos, their full of tons of information and down to earth advice.

Thank you! Your positive review of the Ranger 90 confirmed my purchase. Living in the Midwest where Ice & Crud are just what we have to deal with as most skiing is frontside here. Such an under rated & under promoted ski. It is a GREAT pair of sticks at a fantastic price. Really need you to review the Ranger 102 for occasional trips out West. Love your take on the Blaze 104! Feel the Ranger 102 or Blaze 104 would be the only additional pair I would have interest in now…. Keep doing what you are doing Man!!!

My home mountain is Sugarloaf. I have a season pass there which also includes Sunday River and Loon. Price was 960 with 12 blackout days. I consider it a great deal. I’ll probably get 50 days on snow this year, so 19.20 per day is a bargain. Full window ticket price is 135. Steep, but not near;y as bad as Stowe or K.

For the East Coast, mainly Cannon, Waterville, Dartmouth, Pats, Ragged and Bolton Valley. Blizzard Thunderbird's or Blizzard Brahma 82s? Current go to is an ancient pair of Blizzard 7.6 Magnums that my wife threatened to take and burn because of their age (10+). I have others but always grab the Mags just like an old pair of socks or boxers I guess. Thanks.

Oh man jealous of the Chamonix trip. I need to go back. Black Crows shop there has a few shop exclusive hats and shirts worth looking for. Zag skis is there too and looks interesting. Zag Mata for example. Not sure if you have tried them or had an opinion on them.

I demoed the k2 89ti skis, I don't know what caused it but the tips seemed to want to hangup on each other, had it happen three times on one run, where as I had no problem with the Kendo 88s, Rossignol experience 86tis, and Salomon 84s that I tried that same day, slopes, conditions.

Yeah, we went last Christmas to France for skiing and with a family of four it was cheaper to go there with the plane tickets than going to Whistler (we can drive there and have the epic pass). Most of our east coast friends go to Europe for skiing now instead of going West.

Elliot, what's been your favorite ski brand historically? and has that changed with the greater exposure to models and demos?

Just had a PT tell me helmets don't really help with concussions as much as people think they do, they help primarily with skull fractures and scalp abrasions.
@bearclaw5115Күн бұрын
You need a MIPS helmet. Don't ask how I know. I think your PT is correct about regular helmets though.

MX84 over the 88 because you like that mid turn radius. But I already know its good so you don't have to review it.

Dude, stop spreading false rumors! Tom Gellie is NOT sponsored by Fischer or Zipfit
@RicketySkiReviews I don't know, still doesn't say he's sponsored. I guess it depends on how you interpret the word ambassador. "Over the last two seasons, Tom has helped re-design and perfect the Corsa liner, passed along book recommendations on foot morphology, answered hundreds of questions about our ski boot liners, and spread the ZipFit name far and wide. Tom is a true ambassador of ZipFit and we're proud that he is one of our global ambassadors of skiing." Here's Tom Gellie's exact response about 2 weeks ago when I asked him: "No worries at all and good to bring this up. I think I mention it a few times in this recording that I have been given some skis from Fischer over the past couple of years. Not all, some I paid for. My podium yellow ski boots were actually given to me from a friend, not from Fischer. I have no formal contract or obligation to the company and dont receive any money from Fischer or Zipfit. I think they are great brands and it's nice they give me a bit of free gear. Zipfit have given me one pair of liners. I paid for my first pair myself to try them :-) I was sort of sponsored by Volkl about 5 years ago but didnt get on with the dalbello boots. So bought Fischer bought boots myself believing they would fit me better. And it turned out to be right."

Good correction on helmet!! K2 is made in China garbage. They don't honor warranties and rhe Reckoner had known durability issues until the redesign this year. I'd avoid that brand unless you get a pair super cheap.

Have fun in france! Are you thinking of doing the Vallée Blanche from Aiguille du Midi? Probably one of the most unique ski experiences in the world. It’s really crazy the lift pass prices in North America, seems they’re really scamming us. I heard however from my German friends that their ski passes are getting more expensive too because the low altitude small ski hills are closing and the high altitude mega-resorts are taking all the business. The “all in” value is still vastly better over the pond however, because the restaurants on the mountains are all independent which allows more competition. The ski schools are also independent there instead of being an effective monopoly in the states! Talk about european socialism 😜
@jonnytootall12392 күн бұрын
Also we don’t have to worry about having our lift pass taken away by ski patrol or yellow jackets or whatever they are called too
