They do not offer you good benefits (none at all if your a part timer), very little paid time leave, almost no sick leave days, and no protections against abuse. Its why HR is an absolute joke, and rather than help you companies now use Human Resources to cover their own ass. Workers right now have next to NO power what so ever an these companies roll around posting record profits while they ruin the environment and pump out mediocre products/services with built in planned obsolesce and pay their workers less and less. They rather spend all their money on stock buybacks to artificially inflate their companies stock than re investing that money on you, the worker or spending it on improving your work environment.

Fatso complains about wages but makes more money than a lot of professionals like doctors and lawyers, $728,000 a year I read. He says that the longshoremen were working at the docks during the pandemic while we were at home. He forgot that law enforcement, medical personnel, deliveries, truck drivers, store employees, restaurants and supermarkets, and many other people were working during the pandemic. He wants higher wages for the union labor so he can make more money. Unions are for the money and not for the employees that pay the unions dues. I was a member of a union once and they want you to pay their damn dues. Those labor employees are important as anybody that has a decent job in this society and economy, but they are no special because those men can be replaced by other men or by machines. Fatso criticized the companies that made a lot of money and he is another greedy individual as well. ILA doesn’t owns the docks, they are interfering with commerce. In the international commerce arena there are higher players, another level of mafia. He is messing not only with us the American people but with other corporate mafia as well. I don’t want to pay more to the inflation, because these people want to make more money and they are holding the international commerce here in the U.S. That union may have the right to hold a strike but they don’t have the right to shut down ports. They don’t want the contract agreement, they should quit the hell off and let other people replace them. Don’t let those pricks run our ports and economy.

This is what destroyed the UK car industry. Strikes that not only drove (pardon the pun) the manufacturers into collapse, but the products were late, poor quality and expensive. Cars built abroad, started to become highly appealing to the customer. Built with the quality, precision and reliability of automation, not a lazy person trying to squeeze their company dry. The cars were delivered when promised and by companies with a decent looking future. There is a fine balance between being abused by an employer/underpaid and being so lazy/greedy that they cannot function. Reducing your output is one sure fire way to bring in automation too, as well as the costs that you mentioned. Time is money, and slowing down just expedites their potential replacement.

@@AnthooFitz the answer is in your pessimism. "They" being corporations. Corporations have become to large to adequately serve the economy. Multi-tiered corporate ownership, is designed to increase profit, while avoiding responsibility. Corporations often blame government for business closures, or job losses, when they raise minimum wages. In reality, it is a demonstration of poor business practices. Often seeking corporate profits, at the expense of the hourly employees who actually perform the work. This is obvious in any company who has sent their work overseas. Many corporations are now owned by investment firms. Their blindsided by profits, neglecting, product safety, consumer satisfaction, and local economic impact. These same investment firms may also own apartment complexes, who have been found to be colluding to improperly hold rents above market value, using "3rd party" software firms, where the 3rd party, then controls the cost of rent, not the owner, or management of the property.
