Eastern Love vs Western Love - the Asian concept of love, relationships in the far east, and Asian dating are a little different. Why Filipina women marry western men is much debated, but the reasons why Filipinas marry you can be understood, and far east relationships are becoming popular with western men fleeing rampant hypergamy. The eastern versus western concept of love is well worth understanding, in order to find a Filipina wife! ‪@TheFilipinaPea‬

Highly philosophical input concerning a concept as old as Adam & Eve. Dr Pea, you just managed to give, once again, a courageous and scrupulous analysis that will help so many couples to understand each other’s and help them also to reinforce their relationship. Hey Pea, I found out an interesting statistic the other day that goes along with your channel. Columbia University did a study of American men who got mail order brides. What they found out was that provided the couple talked for 4 months or more prior to marriage, 57% of them are still married. That may sound low but the men who married American women only had a 53% chance of success if it was both of their first marriages. If it is the second marriage for the American woman that percentage drops dramatically. Statistically you have a better chance of having a successful marriage bringing a Filipina here than if you marry an American woman.

Because of the way feminism has distorted and destroyed the way western women think about the concept of love and marriage, I choose not to love a western woman again. I will love an eastern woman who understands, appreciates, and enjoys the more traditional concept of love that is prevalent in most of the planet outside the west. I want a feminine woman. I want a woman who isn't interested in arguing with me about every little thing or nagging me constantly. A woman like this I can choose to love. I have no issue with helping her parents. But I don't think it's my responsibility to support her adult siblings or every cousin and uncle looking for a handout. I am a kind, loving, and generous man. Basically a teddy bear. But I'm also a warrior and will not allow myself to be taken advantage of. I can change and adapt to a new culture. I can fit in and be a productive part of my community. I can be a good husband, father, and friend.

I feel you brother. Fickle, unstable, saying they love you and then being totally selfish, hiding intentions and motives, the "I don't need a man" and also "I'm a strong, independent woman" attitudes have stolen the glory and purpose of a woman. Not to be a door mat, but a compliment to a man as he is to be to her. All this fighting and bickering and selfishness have destroyed romance here in the US. That is why we seek the super feminine because we know we will love and lavish our girl when she is God's reality of what a woman should be.

Wow! What a brilliant and concise exposition of how I have experienced and accepted love in SE Asia. My current wife and I lived together for almost two years before I asked her to marry me. During that time she learned about me in and adapting to Asia and I am sure she had many interesting conversations with her family about how suitable I would be. So far. So good.

The way I grew up is similar to what you talk about it being there, you help your family. There is a caveat though. You don't become an enabler for someone to be lazy. I have often helped my family, and had to stop before, because I had become an enabler for someone (but that is rare). With that being said, if you marry someone, they and their family become your family as well. The other caveat to that, is your immediate family comes first. Your wife and kids can't go hungry so your brother/brother-in-law can party.

Pea, You are the most thoughtful and straightforward vlogger I have ever come across, either male or female. I love how you point out that you have to step into the other person's shoes before you can pass judgment on them. If you are going to have a serious relationship, at the very least you have to know the other person's motivations for life and what they consider important. Most people don't even put in the effort to get to know what the other wants and needs in life let alone their motivations for those wants and needs. I am going to come to the Philippines and marry a Filipina. I love the culture and the people and the eastern idea of love.

Love in ancient times had three dimensions among those in the middle east...Eros or erotic love, Phileo or a tender, affectionate love and Agape, a sacrificial love. In the end, I think those three elements are what we are all looking for deep within ourselves, with emphasis placed more on one than the other depending on circumstances. I only wish more American families could see the love and respect you have in your family but also extends into your community. Great tolerance is exercised with a live and let live attitude. People are willing to help out someone when they have a crisis. I know there may be exceptions but I been hanging out with the country people just love them all. Learned much here and only have the greatest respect for a country that does not abort millions of babies and takes loving care of your elder parents. God loves your Nation!

I am fascinated by this topic because I don’t understand “Love “ any more than religion . For me physical attraction is important but intelligence is really important for long term attraction. Intellectual ability is so important because I don’t feel comfortable with someone I can think circles around, and eventually I lose respect and then become frustrated, not good at all . I certainly understand all aspects you outline and certainly approve . Women are the nest keepers so they are of course looking for financial stability. Idk if I married into a family it would be my family too so I would try to help , but it couldn’t get crazy with constant emergencies. I sure do appreciate you !!!

You actually bring up another topic of modern day Western relationships in that we expect our partner to fulfill ALL of our needs. An intellectual equal, an emotional confidante, and someone that can fulfill our sexual desires. Renowned relationship expert Esther Perel often speaks of this. It's literally LOVE in the MOST impractical of states as it's impossible for one person to fulfill all of these needs. I'm not saying this is good or bad, but this something found in almost ALL Western relationships and most people don't realize the mountain of expectations they end of putting on their significant others.
@contributor2024
@contributor2024 2 жыл бұрын
I would say you can't get all your needs met in one woman. I get my intellectual convo's done at work during the day then come home to peaceful, relaxing conversations, and better yet loving arms. You could however find a scholar as well. Not sure about younger generations, but I expect that for older generations, women did not discuss macro-economics or such topics, making them perhaps shallow to you. I would suggest love with your heart not your mind, then her intelligence is more obvious, such as when I stay something stupid and my gf laughs it off, which I figure out WTF I just said. What overrides all for me is compassion not an intellectual conversation. However I agree a university education is mandatory. But don't expect (asian) women to have a well reasoned argument for world events. Good luck sir.

Tom, I can tell you that I really never understood love either until I married my Filipina. I have married three Western women and I can honestly tell you I would never go back to Western woman, ever! If you come across a good Filipina who shows you true love then waste no time putting a ring on it because they want to know that they have security. My wife was as poor as a Filipina you could get. When I asked her to marry me she asked me why I wanted to marry a poor Filipina and I told her what she lacks financially she more than compensates with the love she displays. And if your plans are to bring your Filipina to the states then you better find one who would rather stay in the Philippines, especially if you're many years older than her. When she gets to the states, it will be much different for her. In the Philippines she probably didn't have too many men hitting on her, especially if they don't have money. In the states she will have a bunch of younger men chasing after her, and you possibly could lose her to one of them.

Good morning Pea! A delicate topic indeed! Traditionally here in the west a woman was expected to leave her mother to join her man in wedlock, that has changed dramatically since the 1960's. There are so many variables and ever-changing "standards" that it's hard to keep up with it. One thing about what you describe is it is pretty much the standard position to marry not only the woman, but her family as well. There are many of us westerners who can appreciate this stability!

This opened up memories from way back. I had a co-worker who was married to a Filipina & her mom lived with them. He was a pampered pooch who always came to work in fresh pressed suits. You could slice butter with the creases in his pants. His shoes were always freshly polished daily by his MIL. His wife also worked as an administrator for a very large non-profit. She would work 10+ hours a day. Between she & her mom, he always had a healthy lunch & hot dinner waiting for him when he got home from work. That sounded like paradise to me. Do ya think he appreciated it? Nope, he was also a cheater. I called him a blank hole. He laughed and said I was just jealous. He told me I was under my wife! While I love my wife dearly and don't do those kind of things, I would have treated her as a Queen & her mom as the Queen Mum. I've not talked to him in over 12 years, but she finally dumped his sorry tail. He would even IM flirt with my wife online back in the AOL chat days! Guys like him give westerners a bad name. The sad part is he is such a narcissist, he never see's his own reflection in a mirror!

Very good information miss Pea. The biggest problem I have seen in east west relationships is the ability to accept each other’s culture. Yes in a way when you marry a filipina you also marry her family. If you bring a filipina to the west she will change. Remember filipinas the older the western man you meet the less likely he will change to meet your cultural needs. For the most part my observation is American filipina marriages work out but that is among the among the people I know and not scientific

On the topic of helping out her family, my gf and I had this conversation not long into the beginning of our conversations. I explained quite simply that I wont be the family ATM machine, that my first priority will always be my own security and stability, second is the stability of our relationship, and whatever is left over is free to use as we see fit. When it comes to helping her family, I go by the saying "If you give a man a fish he eats for a day, teach him to fish and he can eat forever" In other words I wont just hand out money whenever they need some, as charity leads to dependence. Instead I will help them if possible to get educated, learn a skill, get a job, or start a small business, etc... Assist in the things that can lead them to being self sufficient as much as they can be.

If you are in a better financial position than other members you will probably be expected to pitch in. I would meet them half way and instead of giving money, help purchase groceries or possibly see to it that certain expenses are paid. If a huge emergency comes up, then I would offer to help with the cost, such as an unexpected hospital cost. I can see your point but as was pointed out in the video this goes very deep in their culture so consider her side as well.

It's the worst kept secret that "What does he do for a living" is often one of the first questions when a young Western woman tells her friends/family she is dating someone. Now, it depends on her "desirability" to what she will be willing to accept. Desirability is more than just her beauty, its a complex equation just like Pea stated.

Here's a new one you probably haven't heard before, Pea. Love is not an emotion as so many people believe. They confuse love with lust. Love is a choice. And here comes the part people will complain about. But that's ok because it's alright to agree to disagree. Love is a choice for this reason. We were created with the gift of choice, it free will as many refer to it. The creator commanded us to love one another. Therefore, having free will, we can choose to obey or not obey. We can choose to love and be obedient, it we can choose not to love and be disobedient. Very clearly, in this context, love is a choice we make. And yes, there are different types of love. But in all cases we choose whether to love or not. Lust is an emotion, as is infatuation, which is also commonly confused for love. We have been indoctrinated by our western culture to believe that love is an emotion because it fits the agenda. But love is a choice. When you have troubles in a relationship, you can choose to do what is necessary to resolve the problem. You can choose to love in spite of the circumstances. Or you can you don't love the other person any longer, in which case you are choosing not to continue loving. Surely some may understand this and agree with what I'm presenting. And some others may choose to disagree with me a little, a lot, it quite vehemently. Either way is fine. Great conversations can come from disagreements. And if you don't want this posted, Pea, feel free to delete it. I won't be offended.

Your analogy between the east and west is very realistic and helpful to fully understand what a Filipina is analyzing when she meets a western man. Unfortunately, the West is too far gone to drop our concept of love....at least where women are concerned. The West is slowly becoming a socialist gynocracy, and that boat is not turning around. Our current system gives 100% advantage to women, and they are not about to give that up. Any change to our current system would also require accountability from women.....you know that's never going to happen....because it's all men's fault!

All a man needs to do is observe a woman, her surroundings, her family and her situation and he can pretty much already know what she needs. The problem for men is the fear of rejection or the fear of betrayal as there isn't much they can do about it (legally). The Internet/ Social Media have taken the trust out of "love" and have created a hypergamous environment where women are swiping left on men - focusing on the worst aspects of men that don't necessarily make them good long-term mates. I think we will have to adapt to focusing on "compatibility" rather than "love" because "love" is mostly emotional and when it comes down to it, most people won't get their "1st choice" and will have to settle. The need to focus on careers and money breaks up most 1st loves in High School and College. That in itself is a crime against humanity.

How many of those are only there for you physical beauty? How many of those are pedophiles, rapists, criminals, wife beaters , mental cases etc..... and yet many ignore those facts and want more and more attention from strangers with alterior motives. Hi Pea. Hope you're doing well. Personally, I prefer a strong intelligent woman. Of course I'm a typical American guy and find looks important. Although a very young woman may be very beautiful, I prefer a woman that's a bit more mature. An 18 year old I wouldn't even consider as a mate. There's no way they're mature enough no matter their life experiences. Plus what they want when they're 18 is not what they'll want at 30. Maturity level is very important. As far as supporting the family, I have no problem helping out when it is needed. But I'm not sure about outright supporting them. Now if her parents were living in one of those old bamboo houses with no running water or plumbing or electric, I would feel compelled to make their lives better. I don't believe I could stand by and let her family live like that. Of course if that's the way they want to live there's nothing I can do about that. Oh yeah,I do like a woman I can talk about a wide variety of issues with. No so called dumb blondes for me, everything seems so superficial to them. Oh,definitely no party girls. If they're boozing it up or using drugs, I have no use for that garbage. I hope you have a great day and God bless you Pea 🙏

Mate you can find strong intelligent women all over the world, the difference between the East and the West is what matters to those women and the family laws in the East and the West and how they affect your family. Your main problem will be to ensure that she regards you as part of her family rather than a resource.
