Eastman E6OM-TC - New Thermally Cured Version

When I bought my first acoustic I just wanted it to be a Gibson J-45 and so I went to the guitar store and tried one, but I also tried lots of Eastman guitars. They were fairly new at the time (this was in 2012). I almost brought a much cheaper Eastman home with me, because it was just an amazingly good guitar. And frankly, it sounded better than the J-45 to me. I bought the Gibson anyway, because that’s the guitar I dreamed of for so many years. I was afraid it would haunt me for the rest of my life if I hadn’t bought it. Years went by and I added three Martin guitars through the years. But I needed a guitar to tune down to C# standard, or maybe D standard and I didn’t want to use any of my good and expensive guitars for it. By accident I found out that the unbelievably cheap Eastman E1OM was made of an all solid wood construction and I already knew they could be good. I ordered one immediately, unplayed (something I never did before). I got it, tuned the guitar and I was blown away by the quality. Not just the sound, that was good enough. Not the looks, that was actually pretty amazing (natural sunburst I think). But what blew me away more than anything else was the build quality. When you look inside the guitar and you check every small detail, it would be fair to say that if it said Martin on the headstock, you would have to think of a guitar like the 000-16 Streetmaster, or the 000-17 Black Smoke. That quality and that price range. Yet it was only 679 euro, which would be approximately the same as 680 dollars. That’s just insane!!! Comes with a beautiful softcase as well! I don’t think I’ll ever sell my Martins, nor my J-45. But I certainly won’t sell my Eastman either. It’s too good! ❤

My first guitar was an Eastman AC508CE. I sold it, only because I was too inexperienced to know how good it was. "Punch above their weight" sums it up perfectly. Bottom line: Eastman makes great guitars. Feel free to add, "for the money," if you need to.

Eastman has become my go to guitar company. Acoustic or electric they have it covered. If they cost more, I would pay more. They are that good. Don't get me wrong, I still play my Martins, Gibsons and Fenders but they stay home. You guys are a strange lot, that's what keeps things interesting. Thanks

I had one of the earlier versions without the TC top. I REALLY liked it. I sold it because I was convinced I needed rosewood. I do miss this guitar. Great quality and sound and at this price point! Well worth it. Thank you for your videos.

It's got a very sitar-like sound... I can tell Quinton wants to play Norwegian Wood ;). Is that just the strings, does it need a set up, or is that normal for this guitar? I would think Sitka/Mahogany would be warmer and mellower...?

For about $1k, hard to go wrong. Solid Sitka top, or spend a bit more and get the Adirondack top.

I would still take my Martin Modern Deluxe 00018 over this one but Eastman makes very good affordable Guitars.

I have an Eastman 10-OM none thermally caused Adirondack top, Mahogany back and sides. Excellent guitar flat out regardless of the fact that it was good value for money! However I compared it to the equivalent TC version and frankly didn't find any significant difference.

I have some pretty high end guitars and I find myself playing my e10OM-tc a ton. Not sure if it’s Dana’s influence but they are making some really really good instruments lately.

Man, reading some comments is bit perplexing ... epeople need to get over the idea that Eastman are an exact Martin replica and if it's a bit different it's a failure and not very good. They've moved into their own brand and sound ... And for the money they are exceptional. Great guitars in their own right. Compare a Martin of same price for example, Eastman will sh*T all over it

This is not a true OM. A true OM has a long scale. This is really a 000. I wish Eastman would be honest in their description.

O well, not even Martin is ‘honest’ when it comes to this. The 15 series, like the 00-15m and the 000-15m have a longer scale length and should therefore be called OM guitars (the 000 would anyway). I have an Eastman OM and it is a bit misleading indeed, also because of the fact that it also has the smaller pickguard. But if you read the specs (and you can find those everywhere) it’s indeed a 24.9” scale length if I’m not mistaken.
