Hi Andrew, Thanks for the video as always. I like the pickeroon for 12" to 14" rounds and a Hookroon for larger rounds and small logs. Last year I bought a pike. It works great for split pieces. And, the three all give me a head start on ol' Mr. Sneaky Snake! Lol

Great video Andrew, it's always nice to see videos online of the LogOX Hauler coming in handy and being used alongside great power equipment! We've actually developed a pickaroon attachment of our own called a PickOX. It has a replaceable hardened steel tip featuring a "keyhole" design that tapers to a sharp point with a slight ridge underneath, which makes it easy to sink/lock into even frozen wood, but also easy to release. It fits snugly into the end of the cant handle extension that comes with the 3-in-1 Forestry MultiTool. I'll have to hook you up with one at the next Bunyan along with a LogOX belt holster, so you don't have to hold onto the Hauler while operating your splitter. Thanks again for the great video man! -Austin #TeamLogOX

I have a Log Ox and am very glad I bought it a couple years ago. At 60 years old, being able to save my back most of the bending over has been awesome. We have unlimited dead Ash on the farm. I use it to pick up some very big rounds, even if it takes both hands to lift on the splitter. Very well made tool.

I have a Log Ox and love it for saving my back. Sometimes if you bump the cant hook on a wood block already on the log lift it comes off the wood easier. I have dozens of heavy steel cans/totes that I load into and it gets the wood close to where I need it. Sometimes I use a pulp hook to snatch the blocks out of the wood cans. It looks like a hay hook.

Thanks for posting your review of the pickaroon and log ox tools. I’ve been looking for a tool just such as the log ox in order to assist me in handling firewood blocks for splitting. I have a home made pickaroon but find it difficult to carry any significant weight due to a weak grip as a result of arthritis.

Great video. Thanks. My thought is the pickaroon maybe the better tool. It seems like a person can use it to push or pull wood, split wood into a certain place if wanted. The log ox is slick but not as use full I don’t think. You said the log ox had other uses thou, but I don’t think you showed that. Any way, my pick would be the pickaroon. Nice to see something, Made in Canada.

You looked like a natural with the pickaroon and awkward as hell with log ox lol... I have both, the log ox really shines out on the trail or in the Bush, the pickaroon is best for keeping the machine fed.

Just my opinion. For me, at the wood pile, making and splitting rounds I'd be using a Pickaroon. At 6'4" I'd like not to bend down as much as possible and the longer handle of the Pickaroon does that. The Log Ox I feel would be a great tool out in the field when dropping timber and bucking up in the woods.

I have a log ox and a stihl cant hook and log stand which is actually made by logrite. The cant hook is great for keeping the log off the ground while cutting for those of us that don't have a skid steer😁. That saw is rockin and rolling, is that a 572xp?

I think they both have there place in the firewood industry, but at this time I think my opinion would be just like yours not having used either one, but having handled 15 cords by hand in the last few months, less bending is definitely an advantage!

I don't have a pickaroon yet, but use the log rite can't hook for milling. I also have the LogOx, but wish I didn't since it isn't the most practical for my uses with a tractor and other equipment. A pickaroon would serve me better.

Thanks for the video on the log ox and pickaroon, I can see how having both would be good.I cant find either in NZ. Stihl shop have a pickeroon type tool which would probably be fine. Say what's that firebox doing smoking away out in the middle of the firewood site?

Well looking at your body movement I think the LogOx uses less back muscles and conserves more energy. It also seemed to stay closer to your body instead of having on the end of a pic. This was a great comparison. In my mind the LogOx was the winner, just by watching your body work with the two tools.

Used at a controlled pace, the log ox lets you handle bigger pieces with less effort, but the pickaroon is much faster and more efficient on the smaller pieces. I'm seeing the pickaroon as something a younger person might favor, while the log is something an older, more relaxed worker would favor.

Personally i own a fiskars pikaroon and a log ox. The log ox is a nice tool but i think the weoght of the unit itself is a little prohibitive. For example i got one for my mom and she has a hard time one handing rounds and the log ox tool. But i like it. My mom actually likes the log lift feature of the log ox the best allowing her to chainsaw rounds a little safer and easier.

I bought 2 of the garret wade pickeroons with wood handles, as much as I like logrite stuff the heavier headed cast unit sticks so much easier. I don't even use the logrite anymore. www.garrettwade.com/great-american-cross-cut-saw-and-pickaroon.html I'm sure they are rebranded but they really work well. I have the Logrite arch and log rollers, they make really nice stuff.
