The starter kits on the website are perfect for beginners. Have ones with compressor and without for reasonable prices … just need powders before you’re spraying!! And obviously of course your own stove.

This is a great video and I really appreciate it. One thing I dont understand is why we can use a device using 15,000 V to 100,000 V to apply the powder but it is unsafe to use a 120 V appliance to clean up the powder off the floor. Im wanting to begin powder coating. The two biggest issues I need to work out are oven and clean up.
@petergraphix67407 ай бұрын
Because the powder coating system is typically operating in a grounded state as a single system. That is your gun and the part have the a similar voltage potential which limits the energy transfer in any potential sparks. When it comes to the vacuum you're not dealing with the 120V system sparking. Instead the vacuum imparts energy into the dust leading to the system behaving like a capacitor and storing a very large amount of energy. Even then this will most often discharge without you ever being aware that it happened and no fire. Until that day you get a bit lazy and let a lot of dust build up, then the spark happens to occur right where the correct fuel air mixture exists. This flame wave front blasts more powder in front of it up into the air causing a massive deflagration and your shop burns to the ground.

Ive been using the dual voltage system for about a month, and im so so happy with it. I want to get the nicer psc1000 because if the gun I have is doing this great of a job I could only imagine how good the psc1000 would be. However it is a bit pricey and im not totally sure if buying the gun is worth it because I've found it really easy to buy a handful of those bottles and just fill them with powder and screw them onto the gun when I need a new one and I find that really simple and cheap. So I mean to ask is the psc1000 worth it. Because I can say for sure that the dual voltage gun was worth every single penny spent on it.
@DonkeyBong4903 жыл бұрын
The PCS1000 is actually REALLY shitty and 100% not worth the price. Get a Hypersmooth or even a EZ-50 is better. We have amazing results with our EZ-50 as a backup, far better than any Eastwood or entry level gun in that range can do.
@slushiih23 жыл бұрын
@@DonkeyBong490 Ok thanks, I'm going to look right into it!
@slushiih23 жыл бұрын
@@DonkeyBong490 I just looked into both and i think that the ez50 is exactly what I want. Does the powder flow smoothly and stick well? Those are my main complaints about my current gun.
@DonkeyBong4903 жыл бұрын
@@slushiih2 Yes, it really is a great little gun that we use often. It does multi coat much better than the Eastwood offerings and it's far more affordable. A proper grounding rod set up will make a huge difference from what you are used to with your dual voltage gun in terms of adherence into those faraday cage areas.

what kind of powdercoat are you using on engine parts that are a high heat part? What is the best way to powdercoat a 55 gallon drum for a smoker? Great video BTW!
@eastwoodco2 жыл бұрын
Hey thanks, Indy, Powder is designed to "flow out" (basically, it just melts) at 400F, right. As long as you're not getting close to that hot, you'll be ok. So for a smoker, you're looking at about 250F - 275F max, right? At that temp, any of our powder is going to be rock solid. For really high heat, we have high-temp paints that will hold up to 650F, but valve covers, wheels, springs, and most underhood components don't get near the 400F required to re-melt powder. -JD

QUESTION: is it viable to use two powder coating guns in one target? Like for example a car rim or bigger target? If so, does it both requires to be grounded to the target, or one gun is enough to be connected and be grounded to the target?
@eastwoodco2 жыл бұрын
I suppose you could? I don't think it's viable though. Once the part is 100% covered in powder, you're done. 1 gun is more than capable of 100% coverage on larger parts. Maybe if you really wanted to coat things quickly, but there's really no reason to rush with powder coating. It doesn't matter where your ground comes from. Stick a copper rod into the earth and ground off of that if you want. As long as the part is grounded, the charged cloud of powder will want to stick to it. -JD

You'll have to strip off any chrome in order for the powder to stick. Also, that plastic ring will (probably) melt in the 400 degree F baking process. I'd try gently popping it out of the guide. Hopefully it isn't glued in. -JD
