So .. I made these a few nights ago, I replaced the vanilla sugar with 1 tbsp of almond extract and followed the rest of the recipe. BEST cookies I’ve ever made hands down! This recipe is definitely a keeper! If your thinking about making these stop thinking right now and just make them! You will not be disappointed!

I've made this recipe several times now and the first time I made it, I followed the recipe to the T and it turned out so good! It had the perfect amount of softness and hardness and melted in my mouth. However, everytime after that I started to skip the refrigeration step (by accident) and that would result in a crispier cookie (which wasn't my cup of tea). Now I am wondering, are Hallongrottor cookies meant to be soft or crispy?

We are so happy you liked them. They are crunchy outside and soft, buttery inside when freshly baked and chilled. When kept at room temperature, the cookies become soft.

I just made these, they're in the fridge now. This was my favorite "fika" when I was in Sweden. I forgot to buy the vanilla and didn't have any alternative at home. I hope they turn out delicious nevertheless 😋

Yes, you can store the dough in the fridge overnight but remember to cover it with plastic wrap. Take out at room temperature for some time before you start to make the cookies. We hope you like them. :)

Hi, you can not substitute baking powder with baking soda, both products appear similar, however, they're certainly not the same. Baking soda is sodium bicarbonate, which requires acid and a liquid (ex. lemon juice) to become activated and help baked goods rise. You could try to skip the baking powder but the texture of the cookies will no be the same. This recipe gives you soft and tender cookies. Hope that helps.

I made it yesterday afternoon. It turns very crispy & delicious until night. I put it in an airtight jar and put silca gel inside . This morning, the cookies were soft and no crispy at all. So sad :( , do you know why?

@@reinalsetiawan4433 Hi, Butter and jam make these softer faster. These cookies are best eaten the same day. Some tips: 1. You can bake them again for a few minutes in the morning. 2. Bake the cookies at the right temperature and be sure they are not underbaked. 3.The cookies must be completely cold when you store them and away from lights and heat. 4. Place the cookie with jam in the fridge with an airtight container. 5. Bake them without jam, store them as you did and add the jam just before eating them. 6. It did not turn out very good. Sorry. I used 14 tbsp of butter and it was not enough. Dough was too dry and would not form a ball. I had to add some more butter. The final result was ok but i would not make it again. I think it needs an egg.

@@FuzzBuzzRecipes I was using cups and spoons to measure. I used 2 1/4 cups of flour and 14 tbsp of butter as it was written in the recipe. The dough turned out very dry. It would not form a ball and crumble so i had to add more butter. I did not measure how much i added but it was probably 2 tbsp more. I used Bob's Red Mill all purpose organic flour.

@@xlyal8908 Thanks again for your reply. Maybe it was added too much flour? We don't think you overmix the dough. We are aware that cups are not always an accurate method to bake because every measuring cup holds a slightly different amount. Everyone also measures differently, plus every flour absorbs liquid differently. Many people made these cookies so often problem-free that we hope you will try to make them with the measurement in grams before giving up on this recipe. Please follow the recipe instruction carefully (butter at room temperature etc..). We really appreciate your feedback; we will add more detailed info and tips to succeed with this recipe.
