You are such a good cook... you're family is blessed to have such a natural & inspired chef in their own house. I feel like you don't try so hard to impress on KZbin like so many crazy people out there w/channels, perfect flowing hair, make-up, expensive cloths, and giant kitchens/houses. Christine, I respect your great personality, your messy hair and flushed face after a workout, and your no nonsense cooking tips & recipes. Just doing life!

I’ve found this channel a couple months ago when I was frantically looking for ways to stretch $10 for 2 weeks. I have since been cooking all these recipes with inspo from Christine! I never knew what to cook and was spending so much money on groceries, only to throw half of it away from going bad. I’m so thankful for her videos and this one has me wanting to make beef tips after I get sick of my chili I made yesterday 😉

Mary on Richard's phone from Florida thank you for joining this channel Christine will probably save you enough money that you can make in a month a partial house payment and get your house paid off sooner or if you are renting you can go to your renter office and see if you make multiple month payments that you can get your rent cheaper it's always worth a try I used to rent rooms and if I paid for 3 months in advance I always got them cheaper than if it was months to month

I absolutely love the fact that you just eyeball the spices like I do. My hubby laughs at my pinch and dash method when he wants to know how much of a spice to add! I tell him that this was the way my grandma taught my dad and my dad taught me! I tell him this is the PA Dutch way of cooking! 😉 I think I have to try the rib recipe.
@ellalella13 жыл бұрын
If you have been taught to cook this way it is hard to use measurements because you almost always notice "oh this dish will work better with more of x and less of y" when you see the spices and in my view, if I go against my "feeling", it will not be as good. If I have never eaten something I will mostly follow measurements but if I have cooked or eaten something I will eyeball and go for what I feel is right. I also have a couple family recipes that I don't know how much I use of each thing, only how it feels when it is the right amount.
@0808LoveBug3 жыл бұрын
I was just talking about this to my hubby yesterday. I made chilli and was adding seasoning and he asked how I knew how much to put in. I told him I season with my heart lol. I just eyeball everything. I almost never measure. Once in awhile if it's a new recipe, but I still eyeball too. Started cooking as soon as I could stand on a wooden box and stir a pot. So I watched my grandma, aunt, and mom cook from the heart. It's the only thing I know.

However, in these days it's just not possible for us, so it's chicken, some pork, and once in a while some hamburg. That beef tip recipe looked fabulous, but then I looked at the price at the grocery store. I enjoyed watching.

Throw the potatoes in with the carrots, celery, onion and roast. A true one pot meal. I get that people may prefer mashed if they have time and want the extra work, just saying the potatoes can go in as well and then they too get infused with all of the wonderful flavors from everything in the crock pot. Great video.

For the roast use unsalted butter because the other stuff is already pretty salty. Also I like to blend the pepperoncini because it makes the gravy better. 🤷♀️ Idk that's what I do when I make the Mississippi roast.

Try using a strong dark cup or so of brewed black tea as a liquid in your roast. It tenderizes the beef and adds a nice dark color to your resulting gravy.

Short Ribs in the crockpot is one of our favorite meals, but they are very fatty. I roast ours in the oven for a bit to render some of the fat and at the same time give the ribs that nice "brown" before putting them in the crockpot to simmer away. An extra step and pan to clean, but so worth it.
