Hi Chandi, sorry if you’ve been asked this que before, but I just downloaded the pattern from your website (yay!) and have noted the measurements - is that after blocking? If so, what would you say the length should be unblocked? I’m fairly new to knitting and have made a few scarves, but this is my first shawl and haven’t even bought blocking boards yet! Any advice re unblocked length would be very much appreciated! Thank you 😊
@ExpressionFiberArts Жыл бұрын
Hi there, thank you for your question. Yes, the size given in the written instructions are after blocking but if you check further down you'll see the gauge specifications: * 24 sts and 42 rows = 4" (10 cm) in Garter stitch (unblocked) * 19 sts and 34 rows = 4" (10 cm) in Garter stitch (blocked) and using these you can calculate how long the shawl will be unblocked. Based on the numbers from there I'd say the shawl will be ~73" long before blocking. I hope this answers your question. Have a nice day! 💕

Hello there, I just purchased your pattern and I was wondering if I wanted to make this into a lap blanket, would you suggest just doubling the width (would make it 50" instead of 25")? If so, would I need to double all the yarn I purchase? Thank you!
@ExpressionFiberArts2 жыл бұрын
Hi Lauren, if you're planning on keeping the same length of the shawl, then yes you'd need to double the yarn but if you wan to make it half as long, then the amount stated in the pattern might be enough. Unfortunately, I can't give you an exact answer because it also depends on your gauge. I hope this helps! 💕

Wow, this is stunning! Thanks for another great tutorial. Definitely adding this to my list of garments to knit! Would this work well with your alpaca silk DK yarn, do you think? I just ordered the dried herbs kit (been wanting it since it first came out; so excited!), and I was thinking the colours would be great in this design. Not sure about going up this much in yarn weight, though.... Meanwhile, I feel like the bloopers were definitely me today....
@ExpressionFiberArts2 жыл бұрын
I'm so happy you like it. You'd definitely want to swatch up your DK with larger needles to see if you like how it looks and drapes. And, of course, be mindful of the yardage, so you don't run out.

Dear Chandi, if I want to make this shawl wider than that, how should I increase the loops?
@ExpressionFiberArts Жыл бұрын
Hi Shina, the Entangle pattern is based on a multiple of 18 sts meaning if you want to make it wider you will need to add at least 18 or 36, and so on to you cast on. I hope this makes sense. Enjoy making your shawl. 💕
@Bellanewmoon212 жыл бұрын
If I made this a scarf, would I CO the 126 stitches or cast on a smaller amount (still keep it even)? I know this may be a dumb question, I think it would make a great scarf is all

❓️ When you say 16 rows of garter stitches, are that 8 garter stitches in total, since a garter needs 2 rows? Or do i need 32 rows so i get 16 garter? I'm new to English knitting, so it is a bit confusing. 🤪🤪
@ExpressionFiberArts2 жыл бұрын
Hi Ewa, thank you for your message. I'm happy to help. I'm sorry for the confusion. You will knit 16 rows total, meaning you will have 8 purl bump rows on each side (RS & WR). I hope this answers your question. Have a nice weekend! ❤️

Hi, can someone please help me, I am quite new to knitting and I can do the stitches indicated, but when I cast on 126 stitches, after the first four rows in the body section I ended up with a 147 sts ???? I then done the test piece of 36 sts and everything was fine - after the 9st border on row 3, it states (k2tog) 3times, (yo,k1) 6 times etc until I reach my last 9 sts, this was fine but as soon as I increase my original cast on - row 3 always end with (yo,k1) before my last 9sts. Sorry to waffle, but I so do want to do this pattern but I am so confused. Thanks Michele
@ExpressionFiberArts2 жыл бұрын
Since this is a rectangle shawl, your stitch count at the end of each row will always be the same (126 sts). Somewhere you're adding in stitches or omitting k2tog's (surely in Row 3). The yarn overs and knit 2 togethers always cancel each other out (one adds a single stitch and the other decreases by a single stitch). Make sure you're repeating the entire sequence of [(k2tog) 3 times, (yo, k1) 6 times, (k2tog) 3 times] across the row. I've added brackets here to clarify the whole set of instructions that you need to repeat. Or written another way, this is what you repeat across: (k2tog, k2tog, k2tog, yo, k1, yo, k1, yo, k1, yo, k1, yo, k1, yo, k1, k2tog, k2tog, k2tog). Hope that helps.
@janettebanks9778 Жыл бұрын
I am having the same problem. I started over several times. When I tried with 36 stitches it was fine, but each time I try with 126 the count is off. I also counted out the stitches on my needles before trying the increase row and the count is off.
