I’ve tried so many crumpet recipes over the years and they’ve been average. However, your recipe is really, really good. My entire family want crumpets again tomorrow! Thank you.

Thanks for popping in and letting me know that they worked out for you. Really appreciate it. You sound like a real crumpet enthusiast just like myself. I did obsess over this recipe for a long time until it was perfect so I'm chuffed to bits that it's working for people. It's almost difficult to believe how much better homemade crumpets are when compared to shop bought. Thanks again!

Thanks so much for swinging by and leaving such a nice comment mate. I can definitely recommend crumpets to you. Maybe not as exciting as some of that lovely Indian food, but excellent nevertheless. This is a refreshing take on a crumpet. I would perhaps cook it even less just to keep it as moist as humanly possible. Very good looking crumpet.
@TheTeessideChef5 ай бұрын
I find that if you cook them less and they don't dry out on top, when you flip them they go flat across the top and you don't get the holes anymore

A crumpet made without a ring is a pikelet which is what my family called a crumpet until we realised there was a difference. Therefore what you have made in the north of England is called a pikelet. Nevertheless you have made an excellent pikelet ( in Australia and New Zealand a pikelet is a drop scone but that is one of the differences between English and Antipodean English)
@voulafisentzidis88302 жыл бұрын
Pikelets are smooth, not full of holes.

No I wouldn't do that. You'd be best off cooking them in advance and freezing them. They freeze really well
@owendavis76012 жыл бұрын
Nice work, how many did you get from the recipe amounts? thanks
@TheTeessideChef2 жыл бұрын
In a medium sized frying pan you should get exactly 4 'pikelets' which I then cut into 4s - so 16 crumpets.

No they didn't turn out great but that was my problem. The mixture was thicker because of the glutenfree flour so I added more water, big mistake. Next time will follow the recipe 💯. Will try again. Thanks anyway.

Can I make the rings out of foil??
@TheTeessideChef3 жыл бұрын
I personally wouldn't do that. I don't like to expose hot food directly to foil. Plus, the mix would stick like crazy. Non stick molds are the only thing worth using if you want to go that way. Hope that helps.

If you'd used crumpet rings you could have done a nice double entendre about buttering up your ring. Instead of toasting your pikelet, why not just turn up the heat on your pan to finish off the browning - saves a step. I feel guilty not subscribing, but cookery vids aren't my thing - sorry,
