If you’ve been looking for an alternative to those super expensive root tabs, well look no further. Let’s make our own! This incredibly easy root tab recipe will satisfy even the most nutrient hungry plants, like Amazon Swords. I would know, I have several huge Mother Sword Plants which constantly produce baby swords, and several more smaller Swords between my larger tanks.
Then we’ll unbox, dip, and set up the plants in my aquarium while discussing how often you should use these and how far apart.
**NOTE: As stated in the video, Osmocote has trace amounts of copper and copper is lethal to invertebrates such as shrimp and snails. Copper can also affect certain kinds of sensitive fish, to include the Black Ghost Knife Fish. My BGKF has not shown any signs of stress or illness since I've used these and I am confident enough in these tabs to continue using them in all my tanks.**

I purchased a 2 lb. container of Osmocote for $11.98 and a bag of 1000 00 Gelatin capsules for $9.99. So far I have made several root tabs, and even used the Osmocote on my houseplants, and there is no end in sight for that container. It’s seriously never-ending.
