In my opinion, the value of this campaign is that Toneden is leveraging Spotify's API to use follower growth as an objective. If Spotify followers are your objective, you can't use that as a metric in Facebook ads, and therefore can't see data on cost per follower.

Based off of the video, id say you START the campaign in Toneden, then its available to you in Business manager, so in theory yes you should be able to edit it from BM but you alwaaays want to copy the ad and make changes to a new one before running it

Yeah exactly! For artists that have more money than time, they might never dive into Facebook ads itself. Plus you can always just pay for a month when you're pushing a song, then cancel your subscription until your next release if its too expensive for you. The trial at least is a nice way to test the waters and see the potential.

@@AndrewSouthworth We've been doing KZbin display ads to promote new videos on a small channel that only gets around 50 views a video organically and the watch time is atrocious, usually 1 to 3%. You do get a LOT of "views" for really cheap (over 400 for $5), but they are mostly only a few seconds each. This is true even if you use the least click-baity title possible. I have a suspicion that these ads are playing somewhere without the user actually clicking on them and they just jump off really quick after the video starts. The problem with this is that it affects the watch time of your whole channel and you can lose organic views on your other videos if you normally get a lot of views organically. I would suggest you create a second channel with an actual promo video to this channel, or to each video you want to promote, with a clickable link to the video on this channel (or create playlists based on topics and put the videos in order and promote the playlists on your other channel) if you're going to try it. That way your organic views on this channel won't be affected by the horrible watch time.

You had said in previous videos to create an add with something like $20 a day for the first 3 days, $15 a day for another week, and then $5 a day after that, or something similar to that. @@AndrewSouthworth Thank you very much for your reply! I contacted Toneden after seeing your reply, and the woman that spoke with me said there were 2 ways to do it. One was to set up a campaign with a 3-day window, another campaign with a 7-day window, and the last campaign with however long you'd like at $5 a day. Or I could go in manually and change the daily amount on the campaign after 3 days, 7 days, and however long I wanted the $5 a day campaign, which I believe is what you do in Facebook Ads also.

Yeah you can, you'd just go into audiences, make a custom audience, choose the conversion event they optimize for, and copy the link used in the ad (the redirect link, not your Spotify link) to make the custom audience. That way you'd be able to retarget anyone that clicked your ad.

Anyways, My Facebook Ad Account keeps getting disabled, i've had 3 different ad accounts have this happen now and its messing up my New single release like crazy. Please keep your ear to the ground and make videos when you hear of things. I do all my own audio engineering, write all my own songs, make some of my own beats, make all my own cover art, and have a day job. Especially now with the iOS 14 changes I feel like this Ad stuff is too much for me handle. Simpler promotion techniques are a must!

I have followed all your steps, and my event manager on facebook ads works fine (I made the test with the link and everything fine). however both facebook and tonedem say that i have "x" amount of "view content" thanks to the ADs, however when I see my spotify for artist data this doesn´t show. Great platform, but the pricing is super shady. While they say it's $50/month, to use these types of ads you have to add the "Streaming + Social Growth Suite" feature to the plan. So you actually end up having to pay $100/month to run Spotify ads, which is pretty absurd. After my trial ended I got roped into doing this because I started the monthly plan, only for them to tell me I had to "upgrade" to run these types of ads. So the $50 plan is essentially useless since you can't run social media growth campaigns with it. I just wish they were upfront about the pricing. This type of thing makes me trust/respect them as a company way less.

I just can't seem to understand how they make people follow you on Spotify by targeting cold audiences with a single campaign, when we all know people don't really use the follow feature on Spotify that much. It just doesn't make much sense to me, also considering they don't give any insight on streams and streaming time, how does it look when you go to your Spotify for Artists? Do those new followers actually stream your music for more than 30 seconds?

Hello Andrew, I´ve 2 Facebook Business Accounts suspended using this Toneden landing technique and Facebook Pixel. I talked to facebook via submission process so that they review my account and remove the ban but they ignore me and end up blocking it permanently. Please, do you know why this happens? And what can I do to get Facebook consider and do that they check that my ad was legit and ok? They true ignore me.

I tried to cheat a little bit... I ran the 7-day trial with Toneden and got 100 new followers (in total, so possibly through other ways, too). Then the ad and the free trials both ended. I went into the back end of the Facebook ads and basically tried to duplicate the ad that Toneden ran and adjusted just a couple of things. But FB wouldn't let me do it. The ad remained inactive and never got approved. So I guess Toneden have somehow managed to prevent the ad from running.

That is true, but there are both advantages and disadvantages to sending people to your profile compared to a song. Make sure to pin the song or a playlist with that song in the #1 spot as your artist pick if you're going to send to profile.

I recommend full Facebook Ads for people who are willing to do this stuff themselves. ToneDen makes sense for artists that see Facebook Ads and go 'hell no i'm not learning that', so it ends up being cheaper than hiring someone. Doing it yourself will always be better, but some people can't be bothered and have some cash to spend.

I've been running a campaign similar to yours using the toneden links and landing pages (to capture pixel data) with my own facebook ad campaigns (rather than having toneden run my ad campaigns) but I have come across some people in different blogs warning me to be careful using automatic redirect links and how these go against facebook policy. Can you help clarify why it is different with toneden? You mentioned here that they are an "integrated app service" and how you contacted facebook about it. I'm just concerned about getting my ads account suspended...

I cannot recommend Tone Den because the stats they report do not match with Spotify For Artists. They claim to run 5k FB ads per day, but when there are zero streams out of that, it seems unlikely. Or it just does not work. What does Tone Den do? They make an Instagram story on your Ig page, but who doesn't already have that? If you want to use Tone Den, you still have to do all of the same work if you used Fb ads directly. In short, they over inflate the stats, do not save any time and create ads you don't need.

The idea with ToneDen is that they're doing the work on FB ads for you, so its really a service for people who don't want to learn FB ads. I ran some test campaigns with the Spotify Follower Playbook and it worked pretty great, the only reason I don't use it day to day is because I know how to do all this stuff myself on FB ads anyways.

The stats they report are from FB, not Spotify. Theirs always some drop off between a FB ad campaign and numbers on Spotify, so it really comes down to which of their playbook campaigns you use. I’ve only tried the Spotify growth one so I can’t speak for the other ones. When I used it the service worked fine, and people I know have had good results. It’s not for everyone, and personally I still do everything manually in FB ads for more control.
