I'm surprised how much English they use..?? Like A LOT wasn't expecting that. Usually you'll maybe hear a word or so like "post" for social media but this amount is crazy! Hopefully they preserve their language very well ! 💪💪

A Filipino here currently learning German. I had just finished watching an Easy German video before I went to ruminate here, and this is my significant observation so far. If you ask a German the same question, they may most probably give you a precise and definitive answer, i.e. "I want to be an accountant, a teacher, a businessman, etc". Filipinos on the other hand gives quite vague, ambiguous answer, i.e. "I want to be successful (at which f**kin' field they want to be successful?), I want to be happy (happy in what f**kin' way?), and the worst of all, "I don't know/I'm not sure." This does show that while Germans are more particular and goal-oriented, Filipinos on the other hand often live only in the present. While being present and focusing on the 'here and now' is a virtue, a lack of a "definite", I mean "clear and precise", long-term goal may give us no firm direction as to what we really want in life. I am working as an informal educator, or an ALS teacher as we call it here, thus I have lots of interactions with folks in the grassroots. This is what I usually hear from them. A lot of Filipinos typically live in the whims of fate and circumstances, with no clear vision as to where they want to go. Result, they stop school out of just lack of interest, get married early, and have children, until they realize they can longer think for their own selves and easily decide to pursue their own dreams and passions because they already have a family to prioritize over themselves. Their lives mainly surround on cheating the daily hurdles of life for their children and families.

Those "Spanish" words have been part of the Filipino language for hundreds of years; that's like asking why do English speakers use Latin or French words! As for the English loan words they're slowly becoming part of the language; who's to say how long it should take for foreign words to be considered part of the language?

okey here's the thing..... there are ways to use Taglish that will make you sound pretentious, or to "posh", there are ways to yse it that will you sound more natural, and there are ways to use it that's awkward or it's like you aturally struggle with tagalog there are definitely rules that are unspoken!

you can use any english noun with tagalog in a sentence, but take care with the verbs, a lot of them are mixed with tagalog and english for example: itext (send a text to someone).

@@lrfankamiltagalog in purest form is a different language all through out it. If you remove the Spanish loanwords (to be fair that's almost impossible) and English loan words. Some pure tagalog speakers can be found in Bulacan/Nueva Ecija/Cavite/Laguna/Batangas and they all have unique dialects but it is still tagalog and the hardest dialect is probably Batangeño dialect. Filipino is Standardized tagalog that has Spanish loan words and English loan words embedded in our Vocabulary and it's thought as a subject t the entire country of Philippines. For a comparison Chinese Mandarin(Beijing dialect) is the standard form that is thought mandatorily in the entire country of china. Another example is Italian there are many languages in Italy but the standard italian is thought using Florentine dialect.
