I've recently just started playing a few weeks ago. This and a few other John Denver songs (like Poems, Prayers, and Promises) have been my goals to learn. Thank you so much for this video. You made it so much more understandable than the other videos I've seen out on KZbin

Great job slowing the finger picking technique down slow enough for us mere mortals to really get it! And the repitition was very helpful too. getting the tecnique down right by being really slow, careful and methodical about it first super helpful. Thanks for another extremely helpful and motivational lesson, Shane!

Shane I love hearing YOU pick SO much. I forget to watch HOW your DOING it. Always go back and watch again until I start getting some kind of handle on IT. Question what BAND DID you play in. Someone with your talent HAD to play professionally. Great teacher. Me probably not best student. Put GUITAR AWAY when GOT married and had KIDS 43YR AGO. Retired SAID I want a guitar. Five GUITARS later. WIFE SAYS I AM getting much better. She is sweet

THANKS SHANE. I GOT LEAVING ON A JET PLANE. ALWAYS LIKED FINGER PICKING. DIDN'T THINK I COULD ACTUALLY DO IT. YOU BREAK THIS SONG DOWN SO GOOD. NOW I CAN DO IT AT SPEED. HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN PLAYING. MY FATHER IN LAW USED TO GO UP TO YOUR COUNTRY TO DO SOME FISHING. BEAUTIFUL COUNTRY. FORGIVE THE CAPS. CAN'T SEE AS WELL ANYMORE. DOING THIS MAKES IT EASIER. YOU ARE A AMAZING TEACHER. DID I UNDERSTAND DOING GUITARS AT WORK IN NORTH AMERICA. WHAT A GREAT CONCEPT

I took up guitar back in March when lockdown started and try to play for an hour or so most days. I know all the basic chords and other additional chords and I’ve also been working on the bar chords. Some days I struggle with the f barre chord and other days I’ll play it perfectly which is frustrating and confusing. So far I’ve been learning songs based on chords and I’ve also tried to learn some riffs but it’s difficult to measure your progression. I’ve really enjoyed your video lessons as they are not over complicated and your teaching method is very accessible for beginners.

I love ALL your videos... And this is no exception! HOWEVER! This isn't Travis picking... The alternate thumb is there, and the inside strings...but doesn't T picking have, essentially 4 movements? T, inside, outside, and a finish?
@GuitarAtWork4 жыл бұрын
Big thank you for that Northcountry - always good to hear from you. The term Travis picking has evolved to include many different patterns, at least here where I am from. Though it strays from the original Travis picking, these patterns do fall into that category rightly or wrongly. Hope you are having a ton of fun with it and all the best! Shane
