Easy Fix for 2013 Ford Explorer Side Mirror!

About a week ago someone ran into the drivers side mirror on my 2013 Ford Explorer. A brand new mirror was around $500 with tax and shipping and my insurance deductible was $500. My solution.. Go to ebay.. I found the same exact mirror with some cosmetic damage and I got some paint match from Paint Scratch and boom!! like a brand new mirror.

How did you remove the mirror cap without cracking it? I just got a new mirror off Ebay and rather tape it, I want to take off the mirror cap then paint, any help?

I just used some plastic trim tools and went around the edges to carefully pry it off. Just have to be careful with it.. I think this one came off pretty easy. some can be hard tho. just have to take your time with it.

I need to know how to remove the lamp Assy on the mirror. Do u know how?

It is not “removable” per se, however I saw one video were the mirror popped on impact and it show the attachment points so it seems conceivable that you could release it with a set of trim tools. Since some of the assemblies run $1000.00, with heat, puddle-light, turn/lane change indicator/approach light, it is worth a try.
