You guys have reminded me that I didn't talk about the water only pancake so here's my quick conclusion here: If you like thin pancakes, it's good. Texture is slightly more delicate, but the still pancake-y and tasty. However, the fluffy pancakes are so good that I've been converted away from thin pancakes! I made it again for my family that came into town and made it with the egg and milk and then thinned it a tiny bit with water (but only because I was trying to stretch the batter for a big group). Super good and everyone liked them! Are you team thin of fluffy pancakes? Vote in the comments and commence (mostly) civil debate! lol
@colorfulforesight2 жыл бұрын
Was it thinner because you didn't add the egg with the water like you did with the egg and the milk? What happens if you add the egg with the water?
@aemanus2 жыл бұрын
Good to know. Love a fluffy pancake!
@RandomKeto2 жыл бұрын
I only added water to the mix. No egg and no milk and that's why it was thinner. I thinned it out for the family group after adding the regular amount of milk and eggs. Does that answer your question? I haven't tried it with egg and water. Seems like it would probably be fine! ...probably? 😅

I have tried three times to make pancakes…all fail! Every time, I started with Victoria’s Bisquick recipe then tried pancakes the way she did in her video. Then I tried to make them with the actual Bisquick recipe. Both came out overdone (and very dark) on the outside but still wet and uncooked on the inside. Second time, they fell flat. The third time, I tried to just use the recipe I grew up using. Same result as the second batch. I’ve tweaked the temp of the pan, the cook time on each side, the amount of additional milk added. I even kept one batch overnight-some reheating in the microwave, some taking additional cooking time in the air fryer. Still nearly black on the outside and gooey gross in the middle. If anyone has any ideas, I’ll take them! I’m usually great with cooking and baking; but keto pancakes are kicking my butt! I’m about ready to throw caution to the wind and risk the spike in glucose. 😢

These seriously look in EVERY way like regular pancakes. WOW. Just gotta find something other than crisco. That stuff is nasty (just my opinion for myself, not dogging anyone who does use it). And the lard in the store has vegetable shortening in it so it's the same issue. I'll have to try it with lard i render at home....

What about lard?
@identityrefused4862 жыл бұрын
Correction, the lard in the grocery store doesn't contain vegetable shortening. The problem i have with it is that it is hydrogenated like crisco. However i just bought some shortening for making very long burning candles/back up heat source so I'm gonna make some of that bisquick mix with vegetable shortening, lard that i rendered, butter, and coconut oil (each separately of course) and test out making pancakes with each batch to compare how they turn out compared to using hydrogenated oils.
@identityrefused4862 жыл бұрын
@@Holli_Sassafras lard that can be purchased at the grocery store is hydrogenated. I don't understand why since it's a saturated fat, not polyunsaturated like the ones that turn to varnish with exposure to oxygen. But I'm gonna try several things and compare to see how it comes out.
